Kirin Greenland did a great job at organising this little get away for us and I would definitely ask Kirin again when we do more cruises in the future."

Cruises visiting Vis & all Vis cruises for  2020

View Vis 2020 cruises for 1 ships listing 2 cruises from Vis with today's best deals!

The small coastal town of Vis is located on an island of the same name that is the farthest inhabited island off the Croatian mainland. The port of Vis is located in the SW of St George bay. Visitors can easily walk everywhere, though due to the good roads - an inheritance of the previous status of the island as a military base - buses and bicycles are also popular. Due to its geographic position, through the years, Vis has been part of almost all the empires and civilisations in this part of the world. These include British, Venetian, Ottoman, Yugoslavian, and Italian.

Nowadays, there is a relaxed and beautiful island that is a great getaway from the larger cities that connect Vis with the mainland. Hence it is also known as ‘the Mediterranean as it once was.’ Besides its well-known natural attractions Vis has a tremendous historical and monumental heritage. On Vis you can retrace the history that surrounds it and relive it first-hand. The Archaeological Museum is located in the former fortress of Our Lady's battery, built on Vis by the Austrians during their rule at the beginning of 19th century. There are three fascinating collections exhibited here.

Milna Bay beach, and Zaglav beach, characterised by fine sand crystalline water and reefs, are all very popular. Tito's cave, with a climb of 100 steps, and the Blue cave, reached by a small boat, are also well worth visiting. Then there’s Stoncica Beach and the Stonnica lighthouse, the only remaining manned lighthouse on the Adriatic. It can be reached either driving for 6km and then descending by foot down a narrow path to the beach lighthouse, or by taxi-boat from the town of Vis.
