Cruises visiting Rab Island & all Rab Island cruises for  2019

Rab Island is located just off the northern Croatian coast in the Adriatic Sea, and is one of the greenest islands in the Adriatic, as well as one of the most magical. It is covered with pine forests and has beautiful sandy beaches. It is also well known for its mild climate that, due to the island’s topography, differs from the mainland. The island is rich in cultural heritage and historical monuments that make it a popular holiday destination. The main resort, Rab Town, is full of medieval buildings built during the Venetian rule, and which date back to the 13th century.

The old town walls, also known as the Zidine fortress, are still visible in some places and are well worth examining. Lopar beach with its sparkling warm water and white sand provides an opportunity to share in water sports. Also join in mountain biking, trek the Rab-Maman trail, or take a boat day trip - often surrounded by dolphins - around the island to visit the nearby national parks. Other places worth visiting include the Natural History museum of Lapidarij, the Cathedral of St Mary the Great with a tower that offers great views, and the church of St Justina that attracts many visitors.

The main resort on the island, Rab Town, is where most of the island’s sights are located – and as it’s a place full of medieval buildings (many from the 13th century), that’s no surprise. The central street (Srednja ulica) running through Rab Town contains some well-preserved 15th century buildings, leading up to the Town Loggia that was built in 1509. The 26-metre high Bell Tower in town can be climbed for great views over the sea. There are also many events held on the island such as the Rab arbalest tournament, and the Rab Medieval festival at Rapska Fjera.
