Upon entering my Deluxe Veranda Suite (6051), I was greeted by my butler with a refreshing cold towel and a chilled glass of champagne, the perfect introduction to the Silversea experience. The suite itself was stunning, spacious, elegant and thoughtfully designed, featuring a walk-in wardrobe, a large marble bathroom with double vanity, and a private balcony. The attention to detail was evident throughout, from the luxurious bedding to the well-stocked minibar and thoughtful touches that made the suite feel both refined and comfortable.
After settling in, I took time to explore the ship. Silver Nova’s design immediately stood out, with its open spaces, contemporary styling and seamless connection to the ocean. I discovered the inviting pool deck and Marquee Grill, an ideal spot for relaxed dining, before enjoying a beautiful Italian dinner at La Terrazza that evening, where the quality of cuisine and attentive service set the tone for the voyage ahead.
Our itinerary included two ports of call in Far North Queensland, Port Douglas and Cooktown. In Cooktown, a small group of us hired a 4WD vehicle to explore the surrounding region. We visited waterfalls, drove through small local communities and stopped at the historic Lions Den Pub for a relaxed lunch, soaking up the laid-back atmosphere of this unique destination. On return to the ship, we were welcomed back onboard with cool towels, a simple yet thoughtful gesture that perfectly reflected Silversea’s attention to detail.
The following three days at sea enroute to Darwin provided the perfect opportunity to experience everything Silver Nova has to offer. Days were spent enjoying the pool, relaxing on deck and taking part in onboard activities including bingo, trivia and enrichment experiences.
One of the standout evenings onboard was the Halloween deck party, where guests and crew came together for a fun and lively celebration. The live band and performers created a fantastic atmosphere, and it was wonderful to see everyone embracing the occasion. It added a sense of community and energy that complemented the otherwise relaxed onboard experience.
Dining throughout the voyage was exceptional. I enjoyed meals across several venues including SALT, Atlantide, La Terrazza and The Marquee Grill, which serves what I would consider some of the best pizza at sea. Each restaurant offered a unique experience, with beautifully presented dishes, high-quality ingredients and attentive, personalised service. The beverage selection was equally impressive, with a wide range of wines, cocktails and premium spirits available throughout the day.
Service across the ship was consistently outstanding. The crew were warm, genuine and always attentive without being intrusive, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. From the butler service in-suite to the dining and bar teams, every interaction reflected a high level of professionalism and care.
After a leisurely breakfast on the final morning, we arrived in Darwin. Disembarkation was just as smooth as embarkation, although leaving the ship was bittersweet. This was my first experience sailing with a luxury cruise line, and it set a new benchmark. The level of service, attention to detail and relaxed elegance made it difficult to leave.
Overall, Silver Nova exceeded expectations. The ship’s modern design, outstanding cuisine, exceptional service and intimate atmosphere make it an excellent choice for travellers seeking a refined, all-inclusive cruise experience. I would confidently recommend Silversea to clients looking for a sophisticated and immersive style of cruising.
