From the moment we stepped onboard, it was apparent that this would be no ordinary cruise. Welcomed with chilled French Champagne and refreshing towels, we were soon escorted by our personal butlers to our suites. That first impression set the tone — refined, seamless, and service with a capital S. Our butlers were just a phone call away, always ready to assist but never overbearing. Whether it was restaurant bookings, unpacking luggage, or a surprise treat waiting after a day ashore - quiet, thoughtful, efficient. And it wasn’t just the butlers — the attentive crew made an impact by remembering our names from day one, noting our favourite drinks and breakfast orders, and chatting with warmth and humour. It was service that felt authentic, intuitive and, above all, genuinely caring.
The suite was large, with ample storage, and living space, and a separate bath and shower in the bathroom. It was luxurious with a pillow menu – prompting Goldilocks moments testing out the selection, a mini bar stocked with your favourite drinks and the most comfortable bed. The veranda was large enough to sit outside comfortably and relax. The bathroom was almost larger than some cabins on other cruise lines and had a large bath and separate shower, twin vanities, and Bulgari bath products.
Dining was a journey in itself. Jenny explored a variety of venues, from Atlantide and La Terrazza to The Grill and Spaccanapolli, home to great gluten-free pizza. A few of the team — Ciaran, Russell, Candice and Terri — had a night at Kaiseki, the ship’s Japanese teppanyaki restaurant (US$40 per person), and returned raving. With dishes like lobster, blackened Alaskan cod and enough Wagyu to make Russell declare himself “80% Wagyu,” by the conclusion of the trip - the experience was more than memorable. Meanwhile, Jo M found her sweet spot at the Arts Café, serenely sipping coffee and grazing on snacks.
One unexpected highlight was the Hot Rocks Grill — a unique dining experience on deck where guests cook their own steak or seafood over sizzling lava stones. It struck a perfect balance between relaxed and luxurious. Then there was Silver Note — a small, stylish restaurant and bar that combines live music with tasting plates that were both delicious and incredibly Insta-worthy. Candice and Terri were lucky enough to get a table and thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
Entertainment on board exceeded all expectations. We assumed it would lean towards the classical and sedate, but the reality was upbeat and fun. The cast delivered energetic performances from Motown to country, while a comedic magician had us both laughing and in awe of his sleight of hand. This wasn’t just cabaret — it was a well-curated program that kept us engaged night after night.
Public areas on Silver Muse were thoughtfully designed, and even with a full sailing, it was never difficult to find a quiet corner to read, chat or sip something bubbly. The walking track, gym and spa were well used — especially by Candice, who treated herself to a Thermal Suite Day Pass on our sea day. At US$49, she found it excellent value, offering access to a thermal pool with ocean views, private loungers, sauna, steam room and a trio of spa treatments to use at her leisure. She returned more relaxed than she’s felt in a long time and it was an experience she’d highly recommend.
By the end, it was unanimous. We were converted. The combination of exquisite cuisine, intuitive service, beautifully designed spaces and unexpected fun made this experience truly memorable. Silver Muse didn’t just meet expectations — it far exceeded them. Would we sail with Silversea again? In a heartbeat. Would we recommend it to cruisers curious about ultra-luxury? Without hesitation.
