Western Caribbean Tampa

Tampa, in the US state of Florida, is a part of the metropolitan area most commonly referred to as the Tampa Bay Area. The city is divided into neighborhoods, many of which were towns and unincorporated communities that are now annexed by the growing city. Within the city limits are over 165 parks and beaches, and it is also home to a number of attractions and theme parks, including: Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, where visitors can interact with African wildlife; Adventure Island, an excellent water park; Lowry Park Zoo that features over 2,000 animals; and the Florida Aquarium known for its unique glass architecture. Great Stirrup Cay is a small island that is part of the Berry Islands in the Bahamas, about 90 km NNW of the capital Nassau. The narrow island stretches E-W in a 3km arc. (A smaller island to its west, Coco Cay, is a resort for Royal Caribbean guests.) Norwegian Cruise Line purchased the island from Belcher Oil Company in 1977 and developed it into the cruise industry’s first private island for their passengers. The port city of Nassau, which dominates the entire island of New Providence, is the capital of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and interestingly is home to over 70 percent of the country’s population.
