The Farquhar Atoll is part of the Farquhar Group of islands in the Seychelles that are part of the Outer Islands. Farquhar is notable for its high sand dunes, some of which reach to over ten metres in height. The atoll is located about 770 km from Mahe and is the most southerly part of the Seychelles. Alphonse Atoll is one of two islands in the Alphonse Group, in the Outer Islands of the Seychelles Archipelago, Western Indian Ocean. The island has fewer than 100 inhabits, and is actually 400km from Mahé, the main city and island of the Seychelles. This beautiful atoll is nearly 7km across, with a large central lagoon. Praslin is the second largest island of the Seychelles, lying 44 km NE of Mahe. Once used as a hideaway by pirates and Arab merchants, it is now known as a tourist destination as it is home to beautiful turquoise water and white sand beaches such as Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette. There are also several very rare birds such as the endemic Seychelles Bulbub and the Seychelles Black Parrot, as well as being the only place on earth that is home to the unique Coco de Mer, a fruit from an extraordinary palm tree.
