Andernach is a town in the Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. It is situated on the Rhine River between Koblenz and Bonn. It occupies the site of the Roman fort of Autunnacum founded in 12 BC, and is famous for its town walls and gates - such as the Round Tower where they stand some 56 m high and 4 m thick - that are well preserved, and even have people still living in them. Miltenberg is a city in Bavaria, Germany, strategically located on the Main River between the Spessart and Odenwald ranges. The Old Town lies on a narrow strip of land on the northern bank, but was frequently flooded so the city expanded southwards across the river.
