Le Ponant Cruises

Ponant is an archaic French naval term for "West", the opposite of Levant. Le Ponant is a three-masted motorised sailing vessel, refitted in 2011, carrying just 64 passengers – a boutique discovery yacht that will take you in luxury to beautiful ports not accessed by large cruise vessels.Join the three-masted yacht Le Ponant to take in the breeze on an open deck, moved silently by the wind, sharing your experiences with the crew and your few fellow travellers. Personalised service and an informal dress code assures guests of a refreshing cruise break. Though mainly French, fellow passengers will come from many backgrounds, and be young-minded, well-travelled and refined – conducive to making friends as you share on-shore experiences. You’ll find all amenities are modern, ample space for sun-bathing or solitude, no high-end entertainment, but assured good service and dining. Le Ponant is the first ever sailing ship to join the Relais & Châteaux family, a very prestigious collection.

    Dining is a special experience, a Michelin star chef presenting French cuisine served with a selection of complimentary wines, in Le Diamant Panoramic Restaurant, on the same deck as the Wheelhouse. A fine wine list is also available to you. At lunchtime a buffet is served on the terrace. In the evening dine in the Karukéra Gastronomic Restaurant.

On the lower Marie-Galante deck are 27 staterooms with porthole views, three of which have triple occupancy and two with king-size beds. On the higher Antigua deck are a further five staterooms larger in area and with king-size beds, each with a porthole view. Cabins are attractive, comfortable and bright. There are no single or wheelchair-accessible cabins. Past guests rate service at 5+ stars. Amenities include flat-screen television, controllable air-conditioning, bathrobes, hair dryer, French bath products, safe, and satellite telephone (costs are payable).

Cabin service is 24-hours, and breakfast can be brought to your cabin on request. Laundry service can be arranged. Bedding can be changed to twin beds. There is Wi-Fi connectivity in cabins and public areas.)
