Life aboard Celebrity Eclipse
The 2,850-passenger Celebrity Eclipse will homeport in Melbourne from 23 December 2020 until April 2021. Eclipse will be fresh from a multi-million-dollar modernisation and offer a two-night sampler cruise out of Sydney on 8 December 2020, followed by a 13-night cruise via New Zealand to her new home of Melbourne. Meanwhile, after Celebrity Eclipse completes cruising around South America, she visits the Pacific coast of the Americas and, in April 2020, visits Hawaii out of Vancouver. Then until September Eclipse again sails the Alaskan fjords out of Vancouver. Seven-night cruises return voyages visit the fjord-lined coastline of Alaska via the Inside Passage. There’s an interesting voyage that departs Melbourne in late February 2021. Sectors visit the Queensland coast, Bali, Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan, five ports in Japan, the Russian far-east port of Petropavlovsk, and finally the fjord-lined coast of Alaska and British Columbia. This vessel offers a premium quality cruise, and has one of the highest ratings by Berlitz for large cruise ships.

Celebrity Eclipse was launched in 2010, and at 121,878 GT carries 2,852 passengers, and is ranked in the best large cruise ship category, styled after the great ocean liners. The interior architectural design is impressive. Amenities include a large theatre, numerous dining options and bars and clubs, youth facilities, and innovative activities (try glass-blowing, or the live grass Lawn Club on the top deck). The feel is uncrowded – entertainment forward, restaurants aft. Ten restaurants cater for every taste. Guest reviews are consistently positive. AquaClass staterooms come with access to a range of healthy dining and spa amenities. Teens and children of all ages are well catered for. Guests who appreciate the better things of life will not be disappointed. Dress is smart casual, with some formal nights.

Accommodation
Ninety percent of staterooms have an outside view, and of these 95% have a balcony - more than any other cruise ship. Features in all cabins include: twin beds convertible to queen-sized bed, sitting area, vanity desk with hairdryer, interactive flat-screen TV (32" minimum), bathroom with shower enclosure, wireless internet access, and premium bedding. The suites are larger, with more personal amenities and extras. AquaClass cabins share a deck with the AquaSpa amenities, dine at the exclusive Restaurant Blu, and share in a feast of indulgences. Families can book inter-connecting cabins.

There are four suite-grade accommodations: Royal Suite, Celebrity Suite, Sky Suite, and Penthouse Suite. The latter offers floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, separate living room/dining room, baby grand piano, full bar, sofa queen sleeper, two 52" TVs, master bath with whirlpool tub, shower with dual shower heads, double washbasins and a 26" TV. The verandah has a second whirlpool and lounge seating. There are no single cabins, and 30 cabins are wheelchair-accessible.

Food and Dining
The two-deck Moonlight Sonata Dining Room, with its grand staircase and musicians’ gallery overlooking the sea through a huge glass wall, offers excellent meals and service at two dinner seatings. The décor adds to the fine dining experience. There are three alternative pay-extra dining venues. Murano (reservations-only, extra cost), serves classic French and Continental cuisine in absolute style – allow three hours. The Tuscan Grille, an Italian steakhouse, delivers the best of grills, seafood and pasta. Qsine (“cuisine”) gives a twist to commonplace foods bringing fun to (unFrench) haute cuisine, and ordered by iPad. AquaSpa guests dine at Blu with a Mediterranean menu. Japanese à la carte lunch and dinner is available at Sushi on Five. Room service is available 24 hours a day from a limited menu of sandwiches, pizzas, salads and desserts.

For casual meals the self-service buffet Oceanview Café features multiple serving lines, and nearby are freshly-made pasta, grill, sushi and pizza. The Mast Grill next to the pool serves hamburgers, hot dogs, and daily specials. The Café al Bacio & Gelateria is the place to be seen, with an extensive range of Italian coffee (pay), chocolates, pastries and cakes. Themed bars, lounges and clubs provide a wide range of atmospheres for your pre-dinner drinks, private party, or relaxed down-time chat. Beverage and Dining Packages and special diet requests can be pre-ordered.

Entertainment
The main showlounge Celebrity Theatre typically provide three shows on a seven-night cruise: circus-type acrobatics and revues. Theme nights are held in the Observation Lounge. Celebrity Central hosts comedy, cookery and entertaining lectures. The Ensemble Lounge is from the big-band era with jazz-style music. The Entertainment Court, featuring street performers, is adjacent to the Quasar nightclub. Throughout the vessel guests will be met by a variety of soloists and ensembles. During the day entertainment choices range from games, art auctions, bingo, wine samplings and dance lessons, to educational presentations. A unique "Hot Glass Show" demonstrates the creation of glass art by the Corning Museum of Glass. Celebrity iLounge is the first shipboard computer enrichment and Internet hub from Apple. For a quiet time withdraw to the card room, or the spectacular 24-hour library, extending vertically for two decks. Play casino-style games on their Apple or Android smartphones while on board.

The adult-only AquaSpa operated by Steiner Leisure offers the full complement of beauty and massage treatments and facilities. A fully-stocked and staffed gym sports all the newest fitness machines, and there is an outside jogging track. The Lawn Club is a dedicated area on the top deck of the ship that features real grass where passengers can play croquet, bocce, or practice their putting. The Fun Factory has complimentary programs for children aged 3 to 17 years under the guidance of trained counsellors. Teens have their own X Club. The ship provides lunch, dinner and slumber parties for children aged 3 to 11, so parents are freed up to lunch, dine and party at night.
