Carnival Vista cruises for 2020-2021

Making her entry in 2016, Carnival Vista along with Carnival Horizon (2018) are (until August 2020 when Mardi Gras appears) the largest ships in Carnival Cruise Line. Carnival Vista sails year round out of Galveston, and offers two 7-night itineraries in the Western Caribbean. One heads for Roatan (Honduras), Belize City and Cozumel (Mexico) with three sea days. The other visits Cozumel, George Town in the Cayman Islands, and Montego Bay in Jamaica, also with three sea days. Interestingly, cruise ships based in Galveston that mainly service the Yucatan Peninsula include Carnival’s Dream, Freedom and Vista, and Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment and Liberty. These account for around 13,500 passengers cruising out of Galveston every week.

Carnival Vista — Ship Review Rating: 4 out of 5 based on 1 ratings.

Life aboard Carnival Vista

Features of the ship include: the Havana Bar and Pool over-looking the wake; SkyRide, a 240m long track for pedal-powered cars, that cantilever over the side; 2-decked SportsSquare playing court; and the first IMAX at sea. At 133,500 GT and carrying 3936 guests, this sparkling new family ship will offer very attractive cruises. That’s why it’s called a FunShip. She will have a wider variety of activity, dining, and entertainment options than Carnival’s previous star, Carnival Breeze.

Accommodation
Cabin categories (with many sub-categories) include interior staterooms, ocean view, balcony, and suites. Each of these categories has a Cloud 9 Spa variation, with complimentary access to all the spa accessories and fitness programs. Eighty percent of the cabins are outside; 80 percent of those staterooms have private balconies. Each cabin has a gift amenity basket in its bathroom. All staterooms include TVs, safe, hair dryer, telephone, controllable AC, bathrobes to wear during your cruise, and Carnival Comfort Bed with plush mattresses, good quality duvets, linens and pillows. You’ll have 24-hour room steward and nightly turndown service. Standard cabins are a good size. Most with twin beds that can be converted to king-size bed. Good design and soft lighting add to a feeling of spaciousness in interior staterooms.

The Suites are larger depending on level, including large bathroom with twin wash basins, and a whirlpool bathtub. The best suites and cabins are those on the aft-facing decks. Suites qualify for priority check-in at port. There’s also a mini-bar or refrigerator in each suite. Family Harbor Staterooms, adjacent to the Family Harbor Lounge, offer a range of features for your children. Havana Staterooms are a ship within a ship, with exclusive access to the Havana Bar, pool and club. There are no single cabins, many wheelchair-accessible cabin, and many with interconnecting doors. Cabins sleep up to five guests. A room service menu is available 24-hours, for a small charge.

Food and Dining
There are two principal dining rooms with a choice of fixed-time dining at two seatings, or flexible “Your Time Dining”. Dining assignments can be booked before the cruise. Menus change daily and service is excellent. Breakfast and lunch are open seating at a variety of locations, and include a late morning Brunch. Kids have their own menu. Lido Marketplace is the expansive two-level poolside eatery, offering casual alternatives for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Adjacent is Guy’s Burger Joint and Blue Iguana Cantina (Mexican). Also on the pool deck is a pizza station, a deli, and Ji Ji Asian Kitchen.

There are four or five alternative restaurants (by reservation, with cover charge) serving steak, seafood, Asian, and Italian cuisine. The Chef’s Table, reserved for 16, is a special dining experience that includes a galley tour. On the promenade deck a premium coffee bar serves specialty coffees and sweets (there's a charge). Many casual restaurants provide choices of fast-food, BBQ, Mexican, and pasta. There are numerous coffee, iced tea and lemonade stations as well as self-serve ice cream and frozen yoghurt machines. The ship offers 24-hour room service, ranging from basic continental-style breakfast fare to a variety of sandwiches and desserts.

Entertainment
There is something for everyone. Liquid Lounge, spanning two decks, presents large production shows and cabaret acts backed by a live show band. It has a revolving stage, hydraulic orchestra pit, and excellent sound. The second stage entertainment is at Limelight Lounge. Ocean Plaza also has a stage, dance floor, large bar and features cabaret entertainers. Seaside Theatre’s giant screen over the main pool shows sports events, music videos and films. The IMAX theatre is the first on a cruise ship. Night is the time for late buffet snacks, R-rated comedy and Liquid Nightclub. There’s the Piano Bar, and the nearby Ocean Plaza offers food, interactive games, and a dance floor. These are just a few of the dozen or so bars and lounges splashed with kaleidoscopic colours.

Daytime activities include the customary art auctions, karaoke, "game show mania," ballroom dancing, comedians, and bingo. Adults have the large action-packed Winner’s Luck Casino and their adults-only Serenity Retreat. Take an aerobics class, work out in the gym, refresh with a beauty treatment and massage. Access to Cloud 9 Spa with its Thalasso therapy pool, treatment rooms and tea house is limited to Spa staterooms or by day paid pass. There’s a mini-golf course, jogging track, and deck games. On one side of the Seaside Theatre is SportsSquare, which has multiple outdoor activities for all ages; and on the other side is the Waterworks and water slide. Teens enjoy their own parties and movies at Club O2, junior teens at Circle “C”, and pre-teens at Camp Carnival. Keep linked to the outside world at the Internet Café.
