We cannot fault Clean Cruising in any way. Brigitte Little helped us so much. There were absolutely no Hiccups. I have actually given her contact details to two Sisters travelling together who do a lot of cruising. Well done bridgitte and Clean Cruising."

Carnival Freedom cruises for 2020-2021

Carnival Freedom cruises year-round out of Galveston, Texas, offering 6, 7, 8 and 14 night Caribbean itineraries. The Western Caribbean cruises call at call at Roatan (Honduras), Belize City, and Cozumel (Mexico) over six nights, or head for the Cayman Islands, Jamaica and Cozumel over seven nights. There is also an Eastern Caribbean 8-night itinerary that visits Key West (USA), and Nassau, Freeport and the company resort at Half Moon Cay (all in the Bahamas). All cruises have three sea days. On-shore trips allow for shopping, visiting old ruins from the pirate days, strolling along beaches, snorkelling, and maybe feeding giant rays. The occasional 14-night cruise reaches south to Panama and the Netherlands’ islands just off Venezuela. Interestingly, other cruise ships based in Galveston that mainly service the Yucatan Peninsula include Carnival’s Dream, Freedom and Vista, and Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment and Liberty. These account for around 13,500 passengers cruising out of Galveston every week.

Life aboard Carnival Freedom

Carnival Freedom is one of five 110,000 GT, 2974-passenger Conquest Class cruise ships. Her maiden voyage was in 2007, and latest refit in March 2019. One of her main features is a large outdoor LED screen overlooking the main pool area. Carnival Freedom receives best ratings for its entertainment, spa and fitness facility, and children’s activities for various age groups. The ship gives a feeling of spaciousness, with its “city at sea” atmosphere, lots of playful passengers across all age groups, and excellent entertainment. Adults and children celebrate playtime.

Accommodation
The cabin categories include interior staterooms, ocean view (portholes, picture window, and forward-looking floor-to-ceiling window), balcony (four grades, up to an aft wrap-around balcony), and suites (three grades). Eighty percent of the cabins are outside; 80 percent of those staterooms have private balconies. Each cabin has a gift amenity basket in its bathroom. All staterooms include flat-screen TVs, safe, mini-bar, beach towels, hair dryer, bathrobes to wear during your cruise, and Carnival Comfort Bed with plush mattresses, good quality duvets, linens and pillows. Standard cabins are a good size. Most with twin beds can be converted to king-size bed. Good design and soft lighting add to a feeling of spaciousness in interior staterooms.

The Junior, Grand, and Ocean Suites have a large lounge and sleeping area, large bathroom with twin wash basins, and whirlpool bathtub. The best suites and cabins are those on the aft-facing decks. Suites qualify for priority check-in at port. Some cabins can accommodate a third and fourth person, and most cabin categories are fitted with inter-connecting doors to suit families. There are no single cabins, and 25 wheelchair-accessible cabins. A room service menu is available 24-hours, for a small charge.

Food and Dining
There are two principal two-level dining rooms – Chic and Posh – with a choice of fixed-time dining at two seatings, or flexible “Your Time Dining”. Dining assignments can be booked before the cruise. Dress up for the occasional formal. Menus change daily and service is excellent. Breakfast and lunch are open seating. Late morning Brunch is served along with a comedy presentation. Kids have their own menu. Breakfast and lunch are open seating. The Lido Restaurant buffet is the expansive two-level poolside eatery, offering casual alternatives for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also on the pool deck is a pizza station, a deli, and the Mongolian Wok for Asian food.

The Nouveau Restaurant (dinner, cover charge) specialising in steaks and seafood is a superb fine-dining experience not to be missed. The Chef’s Table, reserved for 12, is a special dining experience that includes a galley tour. On the promenade deck enjoy your specialty coffees and sweets (there's a charge). At night, The Bonsai Sushi bar opens. There are numerous coffee, iced tea and lemonade stations as well as self-serve ice cream and frozen yoghurt machines. The ship offers 24-hour room service, ranging from basic continental-style breakfast fare to a variety of sandwiches and desserts.

Entertainment
There is something for everyone. The Victoriana Main Show Lounge spanning three decks presents large production shows and cabaret acts backed by a live show band. It has a revolving stage, hydraulic orchestra pit, and excellent sound. Seaside Theatre’s giant screen over the main pool shows sports events, music videos and films. Night is the time for late buffet snacks, R-rated comedy and 70’s Dance Club. There’s Scott’s Piano bar, and Swingtime Jazz Club for afternoon tea and before dinner drinks. These are just a few of the 22 bars and lounges splashed with kaleidoscopic colours.

Daytime activities include the customary art auctions, karaoke, "game show mania," ballroom dancing, comedians, and bingo. Adults have the large action-packed Babylon Casino and their adults-only Serenity Retreat. Take an aerobics class, work out in the gym, refresh with a beauty treatment and massage. There’s a mini-golf course, jogging track, and deck games. Teens enjoy their own parties and movies at Club O2, junior teens at Circle “C”, and pre-teens at Camp Carnival. Entertainment extends to the humungous WaterWorks slides and pools. Keep linked to the outside world at the Internet Café.
