Cruises from Tangalooma

Originally a whaling station, Tangalooma is a resort township on the west side of Moreton Island, just a 70 minute catamaran trip from Brisbane, in Queensland, Australia. Cruise ships from Sydney anchor offshore for a day on the island. Moreton is home to Queensland's oldest operating lighthouse located at Cape Moreton on the northern tip of the island. The star attraction at the resort is undoubtedly the unique experience of hand-feeding a pod of the amazing wild bottlenose dolphins. Read more

From June through October visitors can join whale-watching tours, getting a close view of these gentle giants.

Port Highlights

  • Take a tour to get up close and personal with bottlenose dolphins. Learn about their habitat and distinct and unique personalities. You also have the opportunity to hand feed them.

  • Take on the challenge and make the trek up Mount Tempest. Mount Tempest is the highest coastal sand dune in the world, so climbing the track made of sand can be a challenge, but the 360-degree views of the island from the top are worth it.

  • Grab your snorkel and head out to the Tangalooma wrecks. Here you will see the coral slowly starting to form over the wrecks that around 100 species of fish call home. If you're lucky you may even spot some dolphins, wobbegongs, or dugongs.
