Ship Cove (aka Meretoto or Totaranui) is a small bay in Queen Charlotte Sound at the northern tip of New Zealand’s South Island. In 1770 Captain James Cook anchored here to replenish supplies and made it a base on four later visits. The 7 sq.km. Ship Cove is now a Scenic Reserve and retains a monument to Captain Cook.
