Cruises from Nightingale Island
Nightingale Island, part of the Tristan da Cunha group of islands, is an active volcanic island in the South Atlantic Ocean, 2800km due west of Cape Town. It is administered by the UK as an overseas territory in the South Atlantic. The island is part of Nightingale Island’s Important Bird Area, as a breeding site for seabirds and endemic land-birds. Over a million birds are estimated to breed on the island, with Great Shearwaters among the most abundant.
There are four wetland areas each home to hundreds of Atlantic Yellow-nosed Albatrosses.
