Cruises from Marigot
Marigot is the main town and capital in the French Collectivity of Saint Martin. St Martin comprises the northern 60% of a divided island in the Eastern Caribbean. (The southern 40% is Sint Maarten, of the Netherlands, and the only place where France borders the Netherlands.) St Martin lies at the northern tip of the Leeward Islands edging the Atlantic Ocean. With a population of around 13,000, Marigot faces the Bay of Marigot and the calmer waters of the Caribbean Sea.
The town extends along the waterfront, and there’s an inlet, crossed by a drawbridge, to the Simpson Bay Lagoon. The French/Netherlands border divides the lagoon. (There are rarely checks at the border between the two sides of the island.)
