Mackinac Island is an island and resort in the USA state of Michigan. It is located on Lake Huron, seven kilometres east of the Straits of Mackinac, the straits that join Lakes Michigan and Huron. It is the centre of many cultural events, exhibits a variety of architectural styles covering three centuries, and has a ban on all motor vehicles: transportation on the island is by horse, bike, or foot. More than 80 percent of the island is preserved as Mackinac Island State Park.
