Cruises from Karrat Fjord
Karrat Fjord has its mouth in Nordost Bay that in turn is part of the larger Baffin Bay off western Greenland. Further inland from its mouth the fjord splits into a number of tributary fjords - Rink Glacier, Ingia Glacier and Umiamako Glacier fjords, as well as the Ukkusissat Fjord. All these glaciers are tidewater glaciers, meaning they terminate in the sea. As the ice reaches the sea, pieces break off, or calve, forming icebergs.
Read moreThe Rink Glacier is the largest glacier on the west coast of Greenland. It is ranked second or third in iceberg production in western Greenland. It is also the swiftest moving and highest surface ice in the world.
