Cruises from Boa Vista
Boa Vista (“Good View”: Portuguese) is the easternmost of the ten islands in the Cape Verde archipelago. It lies 590 km WNW of Dakar, Senegal, in the mid Atlantic Ocean. The highest point is only 387m. There are around 10,000 inhabitants, making it the least populated of the Cape Verde islands.
Most live in its largest settlement Sal Rei. The island is known for its dunes, sweeping beaches, and loggerhead turtles. Lying west of the Sahara Desert, it is not surprising to find it has little vegetation with a brown landscape of rocks and sand dunes. Date farming and tourism are of growing importance.
