Cruises from Bijagos Archipelago
The Bijagos Archipelago is a cluster of about 88 semitropical islands located in the Atlantic ocean off the African coast of Guinea-Bissau. Due to the fierce independence of the Bijagos people, the islands retains their abundant natural resources, flora, and fauna. Indeed, it is possible to see hippos or turtle nesting grounds on some islands. Also of interest is the fact that there is a clear overlapping of the most valued sites for biodiversity and the most sacred sites.
The religion of the matriarchal Bijagos people revolves around their sacred sites. Elite tourism has been developed on some islands, mostly for fishing fans from around the world.
