Cruises from Bellsund
Bellsund is a 20 km long sound on the SW coast of the island Spitsbergen, part of the Svalbard Archipelago in northern Norway. It borders the Arctic Ocean, the Norwegian Sea, and the Greenland Sea. Two fjords enter the sound – Van Mijenfjorden and Van Keulenfjorden. It is separated from Van Mijenfjorden by the islands of Akseløya and Mariaholmen. Bellsund was first seen by the Dutch explorer William Barents in 1596. Whalers sporadically visited from the early 1600s.
