Cruises from Algiers

Algiers is the capital and largest city of Algeria, situated on the west side of a bay of the Mediterranean Sea. A big, bustling, whitewashed city, the modern part is built along the seashore and is overlooked by the old part set on a hill, the ancient city of the deys (Ottoman rulers), and crowned at the top (122 m above the sea) by the historic neighbourhood of the Casbah (citadel and quarter surround it) dating to the 17th century. Algiers was the most successful of all the Barbary slave pirate bases (16-19th C), and was also the most cherished of all French colonial centres.
