Cruises visiting Kos & all Kos cruises for  2019

Kos is the main port and population centre on a Greek island of the same name. It lies just 4 km from the coast of Bodrum, Turkey. The port is also the tourist and cultural centre, with the traditional whitewashed buildings, including interesting museums to be visited as well as many restaurants and hotels. The most commanding spot, though, is the strong Castle at the entrance to the port. Take a drive and visit the many villages on the island. From the mountains to the coast, these all have their individual atmosphere and attractive views.

The island is probably best known for its 112 km long coastline caressed by immaculate beaches of a variety of types. Beaches may have smooth pebbles, fine white sand, golden sand, and some rare black sand. All are surrounded by crystal clear waters varying from azure to emerald. Add to this the offerings of a variety of activities, such as windsurfing or sunbeds with umbrellas on which to relax, and you are sure to have a fantastic time. While there is some tourist development, they remain authentic, and allow you to take a step back in time.

Lately, Kos has welcomed refugees and migrants seeking refuge in Europe via Greece. The issue of the control and management of the migration flow is a European problem, and exceeds the capabilities of a small island like Kos. However, with the concerted efforts of the local authorities, citizens, and local entrepreneurs. Assistance and support to immigrants is extremely well organised. Simultaneously, a fine effort is maintained to combine tourism and local solidarity without upsetting the overall experience of visitors to the island. Kos is and remains the 4th most popular tourist destination in Greece.
