Our trip started with an overnight stay at The Robertson House by The Crest Collection, a stylish riverside hotel in Singapore’s vibrant Robertson Quay. Combining colonial charm with modern comfort, it certainly did not disappoint.
Many rooms offer lovely river views, and the hotel features a large pool, which we enjoyed twice, as well as a gym and dining options. The staff were warm and welcoming, the breakfast was delicious, and the rooms were charming and comfortable. Its central location provided easy access to Clarke Quay, Orchard Road and major attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring the city.
Disney Adventure is the biggest and newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. We were privileged to be invited for a special preview sailing and be among the first guests to experience the magic.
The ship has seven themed areas inspired by Disney, Pixar and Marvel, and all were impressive. Imagination Garden showcases the only Disney castle at sea and hosts fun stage performances the whole family will love. San Fransokyo Street is unlike anything we have seen at sea before, with family arcade games and a cinema screening up to four Disney movies late into the evening.
The themed areas are elaborate yet tasteful, with smaller Disney details hidden throughout the ship. They can be easy to miss, but that makes them even more fun to spot.
The staterooms are spacious and thoughtfully designed, making them a great option for families, couples or friends. Cabins include a kettle and Disney’s clever split bathroom design, with a separate toilet and shower for added comfort.
Rooms feature subtle Disney storybook design, with elegant, family-friendly décor, soft colours and ocean-inspired tones. Storytelling is woven through the artwork, carpet patterns and headboard details, with lovely Disney touches throughout. Themes include favourites such as The Little Mermaid, The Lion King and Aladdin. Layouts are practical and well planned, and Candice was thrilled our stateroom theme was The Little Mermaid.
The shows on board were incredible, offering something for everyone and all well worth seeing. The Let’s Set Sail party was a fantastic send-off, while Avengers Assemble delivered high-energy, action-packed entertainment. Mickey’s Dance Party was lively and fun, and Seas the Adventure, with Goofy at the helm, was full of charm.
“Remember” was our standout show, centred on Wall-E and Eve. It delivered a heartfelt story that left the audience in tears and proved to be a clear crowd favourite. Moana: Call of the Sea was impressive, staged outdoors and incorporating the pool in a visually stunning way. The Lion King-inspired fireworks were spectacular, and the Duffy and Friends show was absolutely adorable, with plenty more entertainment throughout the ship.
Guests can book meet and greets with favourite characters, but it is also worth keeping your eyes peeled as they may be spotted wandering the ship. These spontaneous encounters make the experience feel even more magical. We had the pleasure of meeting Snow White, Jasmine and Ariel, staying weird with Amy’s favourite, Stitch, and getting a big hug from Baymax. Of course, we also met Disney royalty, Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
The IronCycle Test Run offers the longest rollercoaster at sea, perfect for thrillseekers. Kids can also enjoy rides such as Pym Quantum Racers and Groot Galaxy Spin, along with epic kids clubs. Oceaneer Club for ages three to ten is huge and offers a wide variety of fun activities. Babies are catered for in the very cute It’s a Small World Nursery, while tweens and teens are not forgotten, with their own cool hideaways. Aspiring little princesses and superheroes can also enjoy head-to-toe transformations at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and Marvel Style Studio.
Rotational dining is a unique feature of a Disney cruise. Guests dine in a different pre-assigned restaurant each evening, while their tablemates and dedicated serving team follow them throughout the rotation for a seamless, personalised experience.
At Animator’s Table, your own character drawing comes to life during dinner, creating a memorable keepsake. A highlight of Hollywood Spotlight Club was the live band performing while Mickey, Minnie, Daisy and Donald danced and interacted with the audience.
There was an incredible variety of food on board, with a delicious mix of Asian favourites and Western classics to suit every taste. The casual eateries offered fantastic options for a quick and tasty lunch. Amy loved Cosmic Kebabs, while Candice loved Mowgli’s Eatery. Mike and Sulley’s Flavours of Asia and the adults-only Palo Trattoria delivered an extra wow factor as standout specialty dining experiences. Our only complaint was that there simply were not enough days to try everything.
Disney Adventure also offers a fantastic selection of bars, each with its own unique theme and atmosphere. During our time on board, we enjoyed a drink in every venue, including Spellbound, Buccaneer Bar, Infinity Bar, Wayfinder’s Bar, Garden Bar, Tiana’s Bayou Lounge, Taverna Portorosso and Market Bar.
Service was consistently great, with warm, friendly staff, above-average speed and strong attention to detail. Most venues feature their own signature cocktails, with standouts including the Poisoned Apple and our favourite, Deadman’s Chest. Each bar felt unique, well designed and absolutely worth visiting for both the experience and quality of drinks.
A Disney cruise had been on both of our bucket lists for many years, and it truly lived up to every expectation. The magic Disney is known for, bringing beloved stories to life, shines just as brightly at sea. From the moment we stepped on board, we could not stop smiling, completely immersed in the joy and magic of all things Disney.
We absolutely loved sailing on Disney Adventure and would jump at the chance to return to Singapore, especially to share it with our families and pass that same sense of wonder on to our kids. People of all ages will find excitement and enchantment on board, and no matter which adventure you choose, it is sure to be the adventure of a lifetime.
