                                                                                     Metlakatla is the Tsimshian Indian village located on Annette Island close to the entrance to Misty Fjords in Alaska USA. It was founded as a model village by the Anglican missionary William Duncan in 1887 to house his Indian converts and today remains as a federal Indian Reservation. The fascinatingly furnished Duncan Museum, originally the house in which William Duncan once lived, and a replica of the original church that was destroyed by fire in 1948, are interesting historical reminders of the past.
