Propriano is a port situated in the Valinco Gulf on the French island of Corsica, the southernmost large gulf on the west coast. Alghero is situated on the NW coast of the Italian island of Sardinia, and while it reflects a Spanish influence - it was colonised by Spain the 14th C - the thriving marina and its old walled town with its network of narrow lanes that are mostly free of vehicles, provides a truly fascinating Italian port of call. The area of today's Alghero has been settled since pre-historic times, while the Ozieri culture was present here in the 4th millennium BC. Ibiza Town, or as the locals call it Vila d’Eivissa, is situated on the SE coast of the Spanish island of Ibiza, of which it is the capital. Palma de Mallorca is the major city and port on the Mediterranean island of Majorca, and capital city of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands in Spain. It is situated on the south coast of the island on the Bay of Palma, and almost half of the total population of Majorca live there.
