Life aboard Coral Expeditions II
Coral Expeditions II – a 35m catamaran – underwent a major refurbishment in 2015. She is based year-round in Cairns on the Great Barrier Reef, offering 3, 4 and 7-night cruises of the islands and reefs. Depart Fridays for Palm Islands over 3 nights; Mondays for 4 nights to Lizard Island; or take both cruises over 7 nights. Activities include guided coral viewing (from a glass bottom boat), snorkelling and SCUBA diving supervised by qualified instructors, and exploration of many tropical rain forest islands. Have the Captain serve you a BBQ meal on a beach. The onboard Expedition Leader, Marine Biologist, Dive Master & experienced Guest Lecturers will introduce you to some of the 1500 species of tropical fish and hundreds of varies of coral you may meet in the warm waters of the Reef.

Coral Expeditions II is small and fast enough to access sites beyond the reach of many of the larger vessels. Shore excursions are aboard the specially designed tender, easily boarded from the ship’s marina. Coral Expeditions offer expedition-style adventure cruising in Australia’s World Heritage Marine and National Parks. Commissioned in 1996 and refitted in 2015, the twin-hulled 884 GT Coral Expeditions II is 35m long and carries 44 passengers.

Accommodation
Select from four types of accommodation – all very spacious and elegantly appointed. Five cabins (10.5 to 14m2) have bunk or twin beds. Four Staterooms (14m2), nine Upper Deck Staterooms (14m2), and four Deluxe Staterooms (15m2) have the choice of twin or double beds and picture windows. All accommodation has ocean-view windows. A number of staterooms have extra divans or Pullman berths.

Enquire about booking with no single supplement. All staterooms have ensuite facilities, settee, large wardrobe, desk, luggage storage, individual air-conditioning control, and are serviced daily. “We rate the accommodation as amongst the best we have experienced,” is typical of past guests’ reviews. All staff are from Australia and New Zealand, and assure you of personalised yet unobtrusive service.

Food and Dining
All meals during the cruise are included. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are usually served the Dining Room located on the Main Deck and are buffet-style while dinner is table d’hôte. A fully stocked cocktail bar combines with two modern air-conditioned lounges for pre-dinner drinks or late-night conversation about the day’s activities. Complimentary coffee and tea is available 24 hours.

Past guests speak highly of the standard of cuisine and attention to dietary requests. Standard hours are breakfast from 7:00-8:30am, lunch at 12:30pm and dinner at 7:30pm however meal times may vary according to the day's activities. Recent past guests (Australian and International) report that their experiences exceeded what the company brochures offered, and they enjoyed the congeniality of the crew. “A five star hotel experience albeit in bare feet with food and service above and beyond expectations.”

Entertainment
This is an explorer vessel – so the entertainment is focussed on the activities on shore. These include guided coral viewing (from a glass bottom boat), snorkelling and scuba diving supervised by qualified instructors, and exploration of tropical rain forest islands. Shore excursions are aboard the specially designed tenders. Have the Captain serve you a BBQ meal on a beach.

A comprehensive reference library features videos and books on the reef, islands and outback. Building friendships with fellow passengers is very much part of the experience. Expedition Leaders and Guest Lecturers will introduce you to some of the 1500 species of tropical fish and hundreds of varies of coral you may meet in the warm waters of the Reef. After-dinner slide shows may finish the evening. Relax on the sun deck and in the spa pool.
