The world is full of interesting places and when you choose a cruise holiday you will visit some of the most incredible ports around the world.

We have chosen 6 of these fascinating ports to highlight some of the fun and adventure you can have on your next holiday.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Ketchikan, Alaska
In the heart of the Tongass National Forest, along the shores of Alaska’s Inside Passage lies Alaska’s ‘first city’ Ketchikan. Evergreen mountains rise out of the water, the lush green landscape nurtured by the abundant rainfall of the temperate rainforest environment.

Visitors are presented with a remarkable array of activities and attractions that highlight the town's history, industry and culture, and bring them up close to resident wildlife. Ketchikan’s impressive variety of shops and galleries feature work by many of the island’s resident artists as well as an assortment of souvenir items and unique gifts that make shopping a ‘must-do’.

Yokohama, Japan

Yokohama, Japan
Located on the Western Coast of Tokyo Bay lies Japan’s second largest city, Yokohama. Less than half an hour from Tokyo by train this is one of the most visited cities by tourists. There is so much to see and do in Yokohama such as China Town, with hundreds of restaurants and shops. Sankei-en Garden, an extensive Japanese Garden just south of Yokohama provides a perfect setting with its picturesque temples and other ancient buildings.

For relaxation, visit the Negishhi Forest and the picturesque Seseragi Parks. The Minato Mirai district, site of the 296m Landmark Tower, is the new city centre of Yokohama and is blessed with a perfect location along the water and boasts a wealth of attractions such as amusement parks, museums and even hot spring baths. Whatever you do, you are sure to enjoy this spacious and open harbour front city.

Quebec, Canada

Quebec, Canada
Quebec, capital of the Canadian province of the same name, is so ‘French’ it is said that to visit Quebec is to experience France without crossing the Atlantic. The city sits on the Saint Lawrence River and the dates back to 1608. It boasts a colonial core with stone buildings and narrow streets and is the only remaining walled city north of Mexico.

This fascinating city feels like a country within a country and is a bustling metropolis with a perfect mix of sophistication and playfulness with history soaked cobble stone streets in Old Quebec town.
Cozumel, Mexico

Cozumel, Mexico
Off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in South East Mexico lies the Island escape of Cozumel. With a culture rich in warm hospitality this paradise island will enchant you with its natural beauty, magical ambience and excellent services. Cozumel's only town, San Miguel, has a laid back elegance combining the charming remnants of colonial Mexico with the conveniences of modern life.

Its heart and soul is the centre plaza, known officially as Parque Benito Juarez. Chankanaab National Park is a beautiful conservation area that protects the incredible plant and animal species found both on the Island and within its amazing world-famous coral reefs. Diving and snorkelling is a major draw card of this idyllic Caribbean Island.

Conflict Islands, PNG

Conflict Islands, PNG
Don’t let the name fool you, this is possibly one of the most peaceful places on earth. This paradise is located in the Coral Sea, 115km east of the eastern most tip of Papua New Guinea. A picturesque group of 21 islands form an atoll surrounding a bright blue lagoon and are home to one of the world’s most bio-diverse reef systems.

These privately owned islands are the perfect cruise destination and you can make the most of your time here by taking part in kayaking, snorkelling and stand-up paddle boarding as well as glass bottom boat and outrigger canoe tours. The islands are home to one third of the world’s species of marine fish, including huge manta rays and whale sharks. Photography opportunities are stunning with the abundance of wildlife and flora and fauna. This is a truly memorable once in a life time experience.

Havana, Cuba

Havana, Cuba
Recently opened to cruise ship passengers Havana is the major port of Cuba, with a population of 2 million people living around three major harbours. You will love exploring the glory of The Old Town, a look into the history of this fascinating city founded in the 16th century. Some of it is faded and crumbling - but there are many beautifully restored buildings as a result of its UNESCO World Heritage Site designation.

Wander through the Spanish Colonial Architecture as you walk along the El Malecon through the main streets of Havana and marvel at the stunning view of the bay. This city is going through a transformation with a mixture of old and new and is a fascinating destination you must experience.
