Lindblad Expeditions

Introducing Lindblad-National Geographic
A Lindblad-National Geographic expedition is arguably the most exhilarating adventure travel experience a person can have. Travellers benefit from a long heritage stretching back to Lars-Eric Lindblad, the pioneer of expedition travel, who was the first person to take citizen explorers to places where only scientists had gone, including Antarctica, the Arctic, the Galapagos and many more. His son, Sven-Olof Lindblad, now continues this legacy, with grandson Jeremy in the role as the Business Development Director of Australia.

Discover the planet’s most remarkable places, accompanied by experts and tools that include undersea equipment and a fleet of kayaks and Zodiacs, giving you the ability to explore destinations up close. Lindblad Expeditions provides the opportunity to travel on a fleet of ships to the planet’s most extraordinary places and, thanks to the alliance with National Geographic, a chance to explore in the company of world-renowned scientists, naturalists, and researchers.

Today, Sven Lindblad and his team continue to pioneer innovative ways to connect with the places already “discovered”— the first to introduce kayaking to the Arctic, Antarctica, and Galápagos; the only expedition voyage to offer kayaking on the Upper Amazon; the first to reveal the wonders below the ocean with an unmatched undersea program. Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic also offer an unparalleled photography initiative with a Lindblad-National Geographic certified top-tier photo instructor on each expedition and a National Geographic photographer aboard every departure of National Geographic Explorer and National Geographic Orion.

Even those who thought they disliked group travel have marvelled at the rewards of sharing experiences with passionately dedicated experts, inspiring photographers, and like-minded fellow guests. This is because Lindblad Expeditions don’t conduct their expeditions as “group travel.” You are not herded around, and are able to choose from a range of activities daily, including snorkelling and gentle walks.

The places that Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic visit are remarkable. A visit to the Antarctic is like no other. There are many reasons to want to visit; the dashing history of the Heroic Age of Exploration; the penguins; the majestic icebergs and glaciers and the profound absence of anything man-made. It’s an exclusive destination, of which few are privy to.

Antarctica is a place of extraordinary natural beauty that calls to many travellers, and is one of the world’s last great wildernesses. However, travelling to Antarctica can be done safely, and the National Geographic Orion and flagship National Geographic Explorer vessels are the best-equipped expedition ships afloat. These ships are able to easily and safely penetrate the softer, first-year ice that is common in the Antarctic, allowing their captains to perform the magic of “parking” them on the ice so that guests can disembark. Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic have been traversing the polar waters for more than 45 years, bringing with them a solid reputation for safety and experience.

This experience has led them to create the best suite of exploration tools to enhance every guest’s experience. Including Zodiacs and a Zodiac deployment system, there is virtually no wait time to board this secure sight-seeing vessel, designed to place you even closer to the ice formations and wildlife. Lindblad Expeditions also pioneered sea kayaking from expedition ships in polar waters – imagine kayaking between enormous icebergs, discovering this ice playground at your own pace.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the northern Arctic regions, our expedition team’s motivation to see and do more only increases. As we move into 2015 with newly added itineraries, our guests will have the opportunity to discover some of the most diverse, inspiring and simply extraordinary landscapes that comprise the Arctic. The National Geographic Explorer ventures high into the regions where the polar bears roam under the legendary midnight sun, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and massive ice sheets.

The Kimberley; there’s no place like it, or even similar to it, in the world. Discover a land so old that vast tracts pre-date the very existence of fossils—and see it in the manner befitting its immense scale: by sea, aboard our fully-equipped expedition ship, National Geographic Orion. Discover a seemingly infinite, varied coastline crowded with islands, bursting with marine life, and rivers that lead to vertiginous waterfalls. A certified National Geographic photographer aboard every departure will ensure you leave with a vastly improved knowledge of your equipment as well as incredible photographic memories.

The National Geographic Orion is a state-of-the-art expedition ship, carrying 102 guests in 53 cabins, designed to safely explore the remote regions of the planet. She is equipped with a full complement of exploratory tools to discover the environment, including kayaks, Zodiacs, an ROV, and the capacity to accommodate Scuba divers.

Cleancruising Facebook

Following the Antarctic season in early 2016, the National Geographic Orion will set course for Europe where she will spend spring, summer and autumn on a highly curated series of 22 one-week voyages. The voyages will provide a unique take on a familiar geography, with innovative itineraries that will explore Portugal, Spain, France, England, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, the Baltic Republics and Scandinavia. (Itineraries are yet to be released).

All expeditions will be led by an extraordinary team with a diverse scope of expertise regarding the countries being explored covering ancient & modern history, political science, art, viniculture and music, as well as leading active options such as hiking, biking and kayaking. The itineraries have been designed to afford guests the option to take consecutive voyages to discover a range of destinations.

With voyages to so the most unique and extraordinary corners of the world, a Lindblad-National Geographic expedition will offer what many yearn for, yet few ever find. With itineraries that range from 7 to 22 nights, this is expedition travel at its finest. To learn more, visit www.cleancruising.com.au or call 1800 121 187.
