Carnival's Beautiful Ports

Carnival Spirit's Beautiful Ports
Carnival Spirit will be Carnival's first ship to be based outside the US when she relocates to Sydney, Australia, in October 2012. Adapting to Australian customs when sailing from Sydney, tipping will not be required. She'll boast the world's steepest and fastest waterslide at sea! Cruises will circumnavigate the fjords and volcanic coastline of New Zealand, and visit the South Pacific islands of Fiji, Vanuatu, and New Caledonia. Click here to see our feature video of the Carnival Spirit. At Clean Cruising we feature many videos of each ship and many itineraries.

Some sailings in early 2013 will depart from Melbourne. In 2014 all cruises will depart and return ex Sydney. The 2014 schedule includes eight- and nine-day itineraries to New Caledonia, 10- and 11-day itineraries to Vanuatu and New Caledonia; and 12-day sailings to Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caledonia; as well as two three-day weekend cruises and a five-day cruise to Tasmania.

Suva, Fiji
Suva is the capital and largest city of Fiji. Perched on a hilly peninsula between Laucala Bay and Suva Harbour in the south-east corner of the island of Viti Levu, it is a beautiful, tropical, city full of colour and diverse cultures. Local folk traditions remain strong, like fire walks and welcoming ceremonies, wood-carving and the fabrication of tree-bark cloth! Hire a taxi for the day or take a tour and enjoy its tall modern buildings which are beautifully balanced by rich traditional colonial architecture.

Mystery Island, Vanuatu
Mystery Island, (aka Inyeug) is located just 600 m off the SW corner of Aneityum, the southernmost inhabited island in the Vanuatu archipelago in the province of Tafea. The islet is uninhabited apart from tourists, with an airport, originally a WWII landing strip for the allied forces. Renowned for its white sandy beaches and magnificent turquoise waters, with a fringing reef providing excellent opportunities for experienced snorkellers, and though it does have a most private self catering bungalow retreat, one can really feel that they have this delightful island all to themselves.

Bay of Islands, NZ
The Bay of Islands is an area in the Northland region of the North Island of New Zealand. It is located 60 km NW of Whangarei and is close to the northern tip of the country. It is the busiest, quietest place you'll ever come to. It lies in a subtropical wonderland with an average summer temperature of 24 deg., and has the bluest skies in the world. That's official! This beautiful collection of 144 islands provides plenty of natural and historical places of interest where you can enjoy sailing, boogie boarding on the sand dunes, visiting glow-worm caves or mountain biking to your heart's content!

Wellington, NZ
Wellington, New Zealand's capital city, is situated on the SW tip of the North Island, and is set on the edge of a stunning harbour surrounded by rolling hills. As the political centre it houses Parliamentary buildings, as well as the bulk of foreign diplomatic missions. However, it is also renowned for its cafe-culture, as there are more cafes per capita than in New York City.

Mare Island, New Caledonia
Mare Island is the southernmost and second largest of the Loyalty Islands in the French overseas territory of New Caledonia, southwestern Pacific Ocean. Like its neighbor to the north Lifou, it is a raised coral atoll surrounded by short fringing reefs and narrow beaches, the island's fossil coral rock honeycombed with caves and pools. In recent years it was discovered that the island's clever crows make stick and leaf tools to extract grubs from crevices and dead wood. Their unique tool-use activity is now being studied world-wide. It is worth visiting ths island just to see the crows at work.

Nadi, Fiji
Nadi is the third largest centre in Fiji, and is known as the 'gateway to Fiji'. It is popular among travellers seeking to take ferries to island resorts in Fiji's western Mamanuca Group of islands. You can take long walks on the beautiful warm water beach, play volleyball or simply enjoy swimming!N adi Town is tourist oriented and a great place to experience, while Namaka, near to the international airport, is also renowned for its shopping. Other places of interest include Sri Siva Subramaniva Temple, the largest Hindu temple in the southern hemisphere, with a range of sacred statues with an Indian influence. Visit the Waqadra Botanical Gardens, and the Sleeping Giant Gardens which house Raymond Burr's magnificent orchid collection.
