Wind Spirit Overview

Wind Spirit is based year round in French Polynesia. In March 2020 she arrives in Cairns. Depart Cairns 7 March for Bali over 16 nights under four masts of sails. Wind Spirit returns from Singapore departing 4 May for Cairns, stopping at nine Indonesian ports, Darwin, Kirrkala in Arnhem Land, Thursday Island, and Cooktown – 28 nights. Meanwhile, Wind Spirit sails year-round from Papeete, the capital of French Polynesia. From there she runs basically two itineraries: seven nights to the nearby Society Islands NW of Papeete, calling at five islands; and, 10/11 nights visiting the Society Islands and in addition calling at the giant lagoons at two of the more distant Tuamotu Islands to the NE. From West to East, the islands are spread over 660 km. Onshore activities include visiting local villages (if any), pearl farms, vanilla production, and photographing scenery. On water activities include snorkelling, SCUBA diving, swimming, water sports, or viewing fish and corals through glass-bottomed boats. There are overnight stays at Raiatea and Bora Bora. Feast on the beach and watch Polynesian fire dancing. Naturally, most landings are by Zodiacs.

All 74 staterooms have twin-porthole ocean views, queen or twin beds with leather headboards, stately armchairs, linen wall coverings, plush wool carpeting, and stylish bedding. All staterooms are the same, with twin portholes and no verandas. Staterooms (18 sq.m.) have in-cabin entertainment that includes 10 TV/movie channels, DVD player, and a dock for Apple iPod. Comforts include robes, L’Occitane bath toiletries, granite counter tops, make-up mirror and dryer, controllable AC and mini-bar (charges apply). Some staterooms have a third berth, and/or adjoining doors. Cabin service is 24-hour. Communicate with ship-to-shore telephone (charges apply).

Food and Dining

The single sitting in AmphorA Restaurant, classy with wood tones and ocean views, serves signature dishes and nouvelle cuisine, whenever and with whom you wish. Vegetarian and dietary requests are entertained. Menus highlight local dishes and seafoods. For breakfast and lunch the Veranda is both a self-serve indoor-outdoor buffet, or a full-service restaurant, with fine ocean views. The Pool Bar serves a lighter breakfast (and snacks late afternoon).

The real entertainment is on-shore, and your activities depend on region and port. On board, enjoy live music in The Lounge and local entertainment when available. The small library is stocked with DVDs and CDs, books and board games. The Casino offers slot machines, blackjack and poker tables. Much of your entertainment will be with fellow-travellers, new acquaintances, who share an interest in cruising and relate accounts of the ports they have visited. Many evenings are spent in port.
