The White Bay Cruise Terminal for mid-sized vessels that can pass under the Bridge docks two cruise ships. White Bay is 30 minutes’ drive by taxi or shuttle bus from the CBD and Central Station, or take a ferry from Circular Quay (am) or Darling Harbour (pm) on cruise days. Long term car parking is not too far away from each terminal. During the crowded summer season cruise ships occasionally tender passengers from Athol Buoy and Point Piper Buoy. Cruise ships dock 4 km from the Melbourne CBD at Station Pier, Port Melbourne, in Port Phillip Bay. Trams commute to the city centre, and a regular coach service links the railway station with Tullamarine Airport (with long-term parking). Station Pier is also the terminal for Spirit of Tasmania, a passenger-vehicular vessel that crosses Bass Strait to Tasmania. The Pier is closed to the general public during cruise ship visits. There is limited short-term parking at Waterfront Place nearby. Smaller (and occasional larger) cruise ships also dock SW of the city at Geelong (75 km) and SE of the city at Phillip Island (78 km). more info

In February 2021 Silver Whisper visits New Zealand and Australia as part of a World Cruise. Join the ship at Lima, Peru, in January 2021. Accommodation

This is a luxury small ship. All staterooms are suites with outside views, 81% of which have private teakwood balconies. Staterooms are large by industry standards, with twin beds or queen-size bed, and a sitting area with sofa, chairs, coffee table and replenished refrigerator and bar. Other amenities include marbled bathroom with full-sized bath, walk-in robe with personal safe, vanity table with hair dryer, a writing desk, flat screen TV with DVD, and direct-dial telephone. Some suites can accommodate a third person. All accommodations come with Butler service.

Food and Dining

The main dining room provides open-seating dining, set with fine china and silverware. Multi-course à la carte gourmet meals are served at all hours, accompanied by liberal complimentary wines. The alternative by-reservation restaurant is Le Champagne with its degustation menus. There is a dinner-dance on some nights.

Entertainment

By day select from lectures, language lessons, dance classes, bridge, ever-popular Trivia, and the Silver Links golf program. Evening entertainment in the two-deck Show Lounge may include a production show, cabaret acts and local entertainers. There is a band, classical ensembles, and live music in the evenings in The Bar and the Panorama Lounge. For quiet time retire to the library, the small casino, or the Internet café.
