Seabourn Venture Overview

Seabourn Venture is the line’s first of two identical Expedition Ships, launching in July 2021 and May 2022. Venture is a luxury vessel, built for the Arctic and Antarctic in their summer seasons. Commencing July 2021, Seabourn Venture will initially offer 25 different voyages, ranging from seven to 28 nights, with the possibility to combine voyages to create longer journeys, and visiting more than 150 destinations. The ship’s debut voyages will head for the Arctic, around Norway’s Svalbard Archipelago, Iceland, Greenland, and Canada’s Baffin Island, before heading south later in the year to explore the Caribbean and Central and South America. Here is an interesting cruise: depart 18 September 2021 over 24 nights from Kangerlussuaq inside the Arctic Circle, visit four ports in Greenland, five ports in Canada, and two ports in the warm Caribbean. By late 2021 cruises depart Ushuaia for the Antarctic Peninsula. Fly in/out of Buenos Aires. (While in Buenos Aires, consider a side flight to the Iguazu Falls.)

All 132 verandah suites have oceanfront views. Standard Suites feature a personal stewardess, fully stocked bar, interactive TV with music and movies, walk-in closets and a marble bath with double sink, full-sized tub and shower, and all the amenities that go with the bathroom facilities. There are five wheelchair accessible suites, 15 pairs of interconnecting suites, and suites with a third bed.

Food and Dining

Dining options have yet to be announced. Expect open seating, gourmet meals making use of ‘regional flavours’ (though what this means in polar regions is uncertain), and complimentary wines for lunch and dinner. There are no specialty restaurant cover charges. Meals can be served in-suite or on the verandah. For no extra charge. Seabourn is a proud member of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, one of the world’s most prestigious gastronomic societies devoted to the art of fine dining.

The Expedition Lounge is at the heart of the ship, warmly furnished, where guests can compare notes and photographs, and surrounded by two large touch screens, maps and charts. So entertainment is divided between expert information from the on-board specialists, and conversation between like-minded explorers. Or, watch a movie in your suite. Internet is available, yet geo-stationary satellite slow, the only option for sailing more than the 62 degrees latitudes.
