The White Bay Cruise Terminal for mid-sized vessels that can pass under the Bridge docks two cruise ships. White Bay is 30 minutes’ drive by taxi or shuttle bus from the CBD and Central Station, or take a ferry from Circular Quay (am) or Darling Harbour (pm) on cruise days. Long term car parking is not too far away from each terminal. During the crowded summer season cruise ships occasionally tender passengers from Athol Buoy and Point Piper Buoy. Milford Sound is a stunningly beautiful fjord in the SW of New Zealand's South Island and lying within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Described by Rudyard Kipling as the 'eighth wonder of the world', it has been judged 'the world's top travel destination' in an international survey, and is acclaimed as New Zealand's most famous tourist destination. Milford Sound runs 15 km inland from the Tasman Sea and is surrounded by sheer rock faces, such as the Elephant and Lion Peaks that rise to 1200 m or more on either side. Lush rain forests cling precariously to these cliffs, and seals, penguins and dolphins frequent the waters, while whales are sometimes seen. more info

Dunedin is the principal city of the Otago Region of New Zealand. It was founded in 1848 by Scottish migrants, and today the city still contains many Scottish relics, including a statue of the Scottish Bard Robbie Burns. Fine examples of working heritage include the Speight’s Brewery, the Gasworks Museum and the very popular Taieri Gorge Railway. Then there are the standout Victorian and Edwardian buildings like First Church and Dunedin Railway Station, as well as the stately homes such as Larnach Castle and Olveston. Just 85 kilometres from the city of Christchurch, New Zealand, is the quaint and beautiful French village of Akaroa. It is situated within Akaroa Harbour in the heart of an ancient volcano that is now the circular Banks Peninsula. French settlers arrived in 1840 just a few days after the peninsula was claimed for Britain. The French settlers were granted land, and their heritage is preserved in the town with its colonial architecture, quaint shops, craft stores, and cafes where beautiful gardens invite visitors to relax and enjoy delightful refreshments. The seaside settlement of Kaikoura, situated midway between Christchurch and Picton on the rugged east coast of New Zealand's South Island, is overlooked by majestic mountains in the north reaching 2600m, which are snow-capped for many months of the year. Kaikoura is mostly settled on a peninsula that drops off sharply to the 3000 m deep Hikurangi Trench. The resulting upwelling currents bring an abundance of marine life that attracts whales, hence the town’s history as a whaling centre. Nelson Harbour is protected by a natural 15 km long Boulder Bank, with a central cut to make the harbour entrance. Boulder Bank Lighthouse stands prominently on the Bank. The city is surrounded by mountains and national parks. Nelson has the nicknames of "Sunny Nelson" due to its high sunshine hours per year, and the "Top of the South" because of its geographic location. more info

Napier is a port city in Hawkes Bay on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand. It is known as the 'Art Deco' capital of the world because following the earthquake which almost levelled the city in 1931 the rapid rebuilding was strongly influenced by Art Deco architecture. The building style of clean simple lines and bas-relief decoration was not only at its height of popularity, it also suited the needs of the city. It is now maintained by the Art Deco Trust. The Gisborne region has been settled by Maori tribes for over 700 years, where they built their fishing villages and hill forts. Here Captain Cook made his first landing in New Zealand with the Endeavour in 1769. European traders and whalers began to settle in the river and port area. Interestingly, Gisborne is sometimes referred to as the 'City of Rivers', Gisborne sits at the convergence of the Waimata, Taruheru and Turanganui rivers. Seabourn Sojourn Overview

In early 2020 Seabourn Sojourn begins a 146-night World Cruise from Miami, eastwards, actually arriving in Brisbane and Sydney from Singapore in April. The ship departs Sydney for San Francisco late April. In mid-2020 Sojourn runs two 7-night cruises through the Inside Passage of Alaska and British Columbia, that may be combined for a 14-night delightful and calm cruise. In October 2020 take a longer cruise from the west coast to the east coast of the USA via the Panama Canal, followed by a few rounds of the Caribbean. In January 2021 Sojourn returns to the Pacific, and visits Sydney on a world cruise. Note that Sojourn’s itineraries are quite different to the usual round-the-world in their selection of ports. Consider the 81-night adventure beginning 4 March 2021, departing Sydney for southern Australia, Indonesia, 13 ports in Africa, and ending in Barcelona.
