Santorini is a small, circular archipelago of volcanic islands located in the Aegean Sea, about 200 km from Greece's mainland. It is essentially what remains of an enormous volcanic explosion some 3500 years ago, which destroyed the earliest settlements on what was formerly a single island, and which resulted in the creation of the current geological caldera. Take the cable car to view the beautiful panorama of Santorini. The most exotic spot on Santorini is Red Beach. It is a difficult walk, but you can take a water taxi from Kamari or Perissa, and absorb the dramatic colour of the rocks 'spilling' onto the beach. more info

MSC Sinfonia Overview

MSC Sinfonia is one of the earlier and smallest MSCV ships. In March 2020 she departs South America for the Mediterranean, and offers mostly 7-night cruises out of Ancona, an Italian port facing Croatia on the Adriatic Sea. Visit two ports in Croatia, two ports in Greece, and two ports in Italy, with only one sea day. This region attracts travellers interested in exploring history, culture and ancient buildings. The port of Sarande in Albania and the ‘Albanian Riviera’ is attracting growing tourism. The ports offer magnificent scenery, beaches, and historic post-card ruins. Each year from November to the following March Sinfonia sails the coast of Brazil. The Line offers good affordable cruise vacations the Italian Way, filled with fun activities and having a wide appeal. There are lots of children during school holidays.

Accommodation

Two-thirds of the cabins have an outside view, and of these just one-quarter have a private balcony. Interior and Ocean View cabins are small at 12.9 sq.m. All cabins have interactive TV, AC, telephone, hairdryer, mini-bar/fridge, safe, wardrobe, bathroom with shower, and cotton towels. Two single beds can be converted to a double bed. Outside cabins have a large rectangular viewing window. The 132 suites with private balcony come with a large double bed, a sitting area with sofa, a substantial walk-in wardrobe, bathrobes, a well-stocked mini-bar, and an expanded bathroom with tub. The suites are well laid out and nicely furnished.

Food and Dining

The principal dining room is Il Galeone Restaurant, with open seating for breakfast and lunch, and two seatings for dinner. The Il Covo Restaurant shares the same menu. Dining is notable for its quantity rather than its quality, though the food is a highlight for many passengers. Instead of paying for cold water in dining rooms, fill your own bottle in your cabin, chill it in the mini-bar, and bring it with you at meal times. La Terrazza is a casual, self-serve, 24-hour buffet. Café del Mare is a grill area for fast food. A number of other cafés are located around the ship. MSC Cruises provide better-quality ingredients, mostly from Europe, featuring Italian cuisine and regional wines, and daily fresh pizza dough and sauces.

Entertainment

The two-deck San Carlo Theatre presents productions shows, cabaret, plays and other theatrical presentations. Some productions may be short, just 30 minutes. Entertainment includes Pasha Club Disco, an extensive Internet café; and the San Remo Casino. The ship has a number of bands and small ensembles to provide music for dancing and background. To get away from the constant activity and noise, retire to Library/Card Room, though the library is limited.
