Azamara Journey Overview

Until October 2019 Azamara Journey is in Europe, from North Cape to the Mediterranean, with golf and country-intensive tours. During February and March 2020 a series of 15-night cruises feature Tahiti, New Zealand and east coast Australia before an 18-night cruise to Singapore. Note the journey from Dubai to Athens departing 20 April 2020. You’ll have the chance to see Luxor and the Valley of the Kings, the hidden pink city of Petra, make a Suez Canal crossing, visit an oasis in Oman and other wonderful sights. Few voyages reach Istanbul and the Black Sea, so consider the 18 July 2020 round trip from Athens via the Dardanelles, and visit seven countries. Azamara presents the best of the Mediterranean with its long p[ort stays and land tours. Another different cruise departs Lisbon for Cape Town on 10 November 2020. Over 22 nights call at six mainland African ports. Around early 2021 explore the South African coast from Cape Town, and inland tours to Victoria Falls and game parks. In March 2021 the 21-night excursion along the coast of West Africa and the Canary Islands can be highly recommended.

Accommodation

Select between 44 Suites, 205 Verandah, 71 Oceanview (panorama window, porthole or obstructed) or 26 Interior Staterooms. Many staterooms are inter-connected for families, many have a convertible sofa bed for a third guest, and some suites have four berths. All staterooms have 24-hour room service and a room-service menu. Plush bedding and bathrobes, welcoming flowers, refrigerator with mini-bar, shoeshine and turn-down service, and daily news bulletin are some of the services and amenities for all staterooms. There are seven wheelchair accessible staterooms, all near elevators. Remember that singles pay a very low excess for a cabin.

Food and Dining

All dining venues have open seating at tables for two, four, and more. Dress is ‘resort casual’ and evening wear is optional. The main dining room, Discoveries, with large ocean-view windows, seats 340. Anticipate fine cuisine and exceptional service. Excellent house wines and beers are complimentary with meals, or you may wish to select something extra special as advised by your sommelier. There is a modest surcharge for non-suite guests’ evening dining by reservation in the two specialty restaurants. Both are aft, with great water views – Prime C is a classic steakhouse, and Aqualina serves ‘tastes of the Mediterranean’ from Italy, Greece, France and Morocco – the menus of which are impressive.

Entertainment

After dinner retire to the Cabaret Lounge for shows casting talented singers and entertainers, offering a mix of classical concerts, revues, comedy and drama. The entertainment has a cultural tone to it, and local artists come aboard at various destinations. Evenings in Discoveries Lounge and Living Room for conversation and drinks are accompanied by background music. Adjacent to Cabaret Lounge is the casino. By day on board activities include game shows, music, movies and quizzes, or quiet time in the library. Guest lecturers address a wide range of topics as part of the Azamara Discovery Enrichment Series program. On-shore excursions are preceded by presentations about local history and culture. Jewellery, clothing, fragrances and mementos available in the ship’s three shops and boutiques will delight you.
