    The Farquhar Atoll is part of the Farquhar Group of islands in the Seychelles that are part of the Outer Islands. Farquhar is notable for its high sand dunes, some of which reach to over ten metres in height. The atoll is located about 770 km from Mahe and is the most southerly part of the Seychelles.     Alphonse Atoll is one of two islands in the Alphonse Group, in the Outer Islands of the Seychelles Archipelago, Western Indian Ocean. The island has fewer than 100 inhabits, and is actually 400km from Mahé, the main city and island of the Seychelles. This beautiful atoll is nearly 7km across, with a large central lagoon.     Desroches is the main island of the Amirante Islands, part of the Outer Islands of the Seychelles. The island is low and is covered with coconut palms and tall hardwood trees. Desroches was named by Chevalier de Roslan, commander of the ship "L'Heure du Berger," after the Chevalier des Roches, the Governor of Mauritius and Réunion from 1767 to 1772.     Aride is the northernmost granitic island in the Seychelles archipelago of 115 islands. (There are two coral sand cays north of Aride: Denis and Bird.) The archipelago is set on a raised plateau in the Indian Ocean, with an average waster depth of just 60 m. Aride Island is 1.7 km E-W and 0.6 km N-S, rising to just over 100 m, and covered with a variety of palms, liana vines, and trees to the shoreline.     Curieuse Island is a small granitic island in the Seychelles off the north coast of Praslin, the second largest island in the Seychelles. The island is notable for being one of only two islands native to the Coco de Mer. Today it is the home of roughly 300 Aldabra Giant Tortoises. The island is also known for giant takamaka trees, a large hawksbill turtle rookery, and several bird species including the rare Seychelles Black Parrot that is found only here and on nearby Praslin Island.     La Digue is the third largest inhabited island of the Seychelles, lying east of Praslin and west of Felicite Island.
