Ocho Rios lies on the north coast of Jamaica. In the southern Caribbean, Oranjestad is the capital of the small island of Aruba, and an island territory of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Cartagena is a large beach resort city on the northern coast of Colombia in the Caribbean Coast Region. While in recent years many new skyscrapers have been constructed, Cartagena's colonial walled city with its amazing architecture, such as The Vaults that were originally built as dungeons and from the top of which the Caribbean Sea is visible. Cristóbal lies at the northern entrance to the Panama Canal. It is part of the province of Colón, a port city at the entrance to Limon Bay, at the Atlantic (Caribbean) entrance of the canal. (Interestingly, Cristóbal Colón is the Spanish translation for Christopher Columbus.) Roatan (aka Ruatan, Rattan) is the largest of the Bay Islands, which are a part of Honduras, lying just over 48 km from the northern coast of the Honduran mainland. Ocean Cay is a man-made island of 95 acres, lying mid-way between Miami and the largest of the Bahamas. The island was the base of aragonite sand mining; recently promoted as a terminal for LNG tankers and gas pipeline to Florida; and now under a 100-year lease to MSC Cruises to develop ‘Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve’. With deep port facilities and new shipping terminal, the island will feature in MSC’s presence in the Caribbean from November 2018, with itineraries sailing out of Havana and Miami. Tortola is the largest and most populated of the British Virgin Islands, a group of islands that forms part of the archipelago of the Virgin Islands. The port is of great importance and is the communications hub between Europe, Africa, and the Americas, with cruise ships arriving from many nations.
