    Isla Fernandina is the third largest and youngest island of the Galápagos Islands of Ecuador. It is in fact an active shield volcano that has been erupting since 2009, and consequently has a mostly rocky surface and does not have much plant life apart from the mangrove forests. It is also known as Isla Daphne Major to distinguish it from its smaller companion (Daphne Minor) just 4 km to the NE.
