Places to Travel in 2018!

New year, new resolutions and of course new travel plans! If you haven’t decided where you want to head to next, here’s a few different ideas that you might like to explore in 2018.

Montenegro

Montenegro has been long overshadowed by its neighbour, Croatia and let me tell you, it’s ready for the spotlight. The ancient city of Kotor is already attracting plenty of visitors, with hundreds of thousands of cruisers arriving with cruise lines such as Viking, Celebrity and Princess Cruises. The classy marina, Porto Montenegro is thriving in the formerly coastal town of Tivat and there’s plenty on offer in this stunning ancient city from jagged coastline, to luxury hotels, a golf course and heaps more.

Ireland

I’m not sure if you’re a fan of Star Wars but I am a diehard fan, and I can’t wait to travel to Ireland one day soon and go behind the scenes where the Star Wars cast and crew recreated faraway galaxies on some of Ireland’s most spectacular landscapes.

Apart from going behind the scenes of Star Wars, there’s plenty more reasons to travel to the land of the leprechaun – if you’re interested in history or just love taking in the beautiful countryside and jagged cliffs, you won’t be disappointed. And, if you don’t mind the taste of frosty cold beer and getting merry with the locals at one of the many pubs, then this is the destination for you! You can even visit the Guinness Brewery while you’re over there if your heart so desires. So, if you haven’t made the trip to the Emerald Isle, then I think it’s time to start planning!

Bangkok, Thailand

Thai holiday destinations are becoming more and more popular with all demographics flocking there to experience everything Thailand has to offer. In 2016 Bangkok was the world’s most visited city! Bangkok is full of exquisitely decorated Buddhist temples – as you go from one to the next you’ll be continually blown away by the craftsman and elaborate details. Although, if visiting temples isn’t up your alley and you’d rather spend your time indulging in gourmet meals or hitting the dance floor for a bit of a boogie, then you’ll also have a blast! The restaurant and nightclub scenes in Bangkok are among the best in the world.

Mauritius

Mauritius has been overlooked in the past in favour of other Indian Ocean destinations like the Seychelles and Maldives. This remote, idyllic island some 1,200 miles off the African coast has become easier to reach with a flurry of new airline services launched at the end of 2017.

Upon arrival to this stunning destination, travellers can take in dreamy lagoon views from the newly reopened One&Only Le Saint Géran, fresh off a multimillion-dollar renovation. Every room and suite now has a private terrace or balcony, marble baths with cascade showers, and sophisticated teak, stone, and leather accents. Guests can also look forward to updated dining experiences – like lunch spot, La Pointe, which grills fresh-caught seafood over firewood and coconut embers, or open-air restaurant La Terrasse, which offers Mauritian specialties.

If lazing by the pool in your private cabana and sipping on cocktails is your ideal holiday, then this is the destination for you! If it’s not on your bucket-list I think it’s time to add it!

Mornington Peninsula, Australia

If it’s a local holiday you’re looking for then there’s no going past Mornington Peninsula in our own beautiful country.  With this destination being so easily accessible and only an hour out of Melbourne, you can duck down there for a sneaky weekend getaway or enjoy a week’s long break – the choice is up to you. You can swim with dolphins, visit wineries on horseback, soar above the landscape in a gondola, wander through adventure gardens, scuba dive, explore the local markets and shopping. You can do as much or as little as you like. The Peninsula’s love affair with wine, fresh produce and seafood becomes very apparent when driving through the region, so if you’re a bit of a foodie, you’ll love it!!
