Exciting New Cruise Ships to Launch in 2017/18
With the popularity of cruising on the rise, cruise lines are taking notice with many of the major cruise lines and some of the smaller companies showcasing new ships set to sail in 2017 and 2018.
With each new build cruise lines are continuing to push the boundaries with new features, new ports, greater on board experiences and a move towards more sustainable cruising. Cruisers, get excited – these new ships are truly incredible!
Viking Sun & Viking Spirit
Viking Ocean Cruises is set to launch two new build ships in 2017/18, Viking Sun in October 2017 and Viking Spirit in June 2018. With a focus on destinations, Vikings new ships are set to amaze first time travellers and return guests alike. With a focus on longer days and more overnight stays in key ports, a Viking cruise is the perfect choice for the destination focused cruiser.
Both ships boast exceptional on board amenities such as indoor/outdoor dining rooms, sundeck lounges with panoramic views and a signature Nordic-influenced spa with snow room and Finnish sauna. With a capacity of just 930 guests this is an intimate cruise experience not to be missed.
MSC Seaside & MSC Seaview
MSC Seaside will launch two new build ships due to join the fleet in 2017 and 2018. MSC Seaside will launch in November 2017 and will home port in Miami year round. MSC Seaview will launch in June 2018 home porting in Genoa, Marseille and Barcelona focusing on the wester Mediterranean.
MSC Seaside will herald a new class of MSC ship – Seaside Class. Home porting in Miami year-round this new ship will be a game changer. Both ships will feature a promenade with restaurants, bars and plenty of shopping. Both carrying 4140 passengers these ships will take MSC to a new level.
Carnivals 26th ‘Fun Ship’ Carnival Horizon’s much anticipated arrival will see it joining the fleet in March 2018. The new build will follow on from its fleetmate Carnival Vista and will feature Carnival’s latest enhancements as well as a number of unique innovations.
With so much fun to be had on board from the thrill of on board activities like the Sky Ride to tantalising dining venues and accommodations for every type of cruiser, this is a ship we can’t wait to explore.
Le Laperouse Ponant
As the first in a new series of Explorer Class Ships that remain true to the Ponant spirit, Le Lapérouse will embody the unique atmosphere that is the cruise line’s hallmark. This is the first in Ponants investment into small expedition vessels sailing to the Polar regions and across the world.
Le Laperouse will set sail in June 2018 with its inaugural voyages to Iceland and Norway. The sleek ship features a clean and sophisticated design and will accommodate 184 passengers.
Norwegian Bliss will join the NCL fleet in November 2018 and will be the 3rd ship in the Breakaway-Plus Class and will be the same size as fleetmate Norwegian Escape.
This incredibly dynamic ship will offer stunning ocean views from almost every venue, spacious and thoughtfully designed accommodations that fit with every cruiser’s needs, and a variety of exciting and engaging venues that will continue Norwegian’s history of innovation in providing the ultimate dining and entertainment experiences at sea.
Construction is under way for Seabourn’s newest built Seabourn Ovation set to join the fleet in 2018. Not to be confused with Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas (one of the largest ships in the world), Seabourn Ovation will continue the evolution of luxury small ship cruising that Seabourn has become famous for.
Seabourn is consistently expanding and enriching their fleet and their newest ship will host a wealth of new concepts, illuminating ideas and a fresh vision that will delight the most discerning travellers.
Symphony of the Seas
Royal Caribbean’s fourth Oasis-class ship will be built and ready to sail by 2018 and will be one of the largest cruise ships to cruise our oceans. Symphony of the Seas will sail Mediterranean itineraries from Barcelona in Spring and Summer 2018 before sailing from its homeport of Miami, starting in autumn 2018.
This is another “I can’t believe they did that” game changer and will take the Royal Caribbean fleet to 25 ships.
This highly anticipated new build will debut in Autumn with a number of first-to-cruise features, including: The Magic Carpet, a movable deck cantilevered off the side of the ship which rises from decks 2 to 16 and acts as a bar, restaurant and embarkation area; Infinite Veranda cabins, a cabin designed to blend indoor and outdoor thanks to bi-fold doors; Resort Deck, which features a large pool flanked by sculptural trees and two “martini glass” Jacuzzis that overlook the deck below and so much more.
The name sake of the new ‘Edge’ class ships, Celebrity Edge is set to shatter all design expectation and will truly excite.
