Life aboard River Baroness
From March to October River Baroness offers 7-night Northern France cruises on the Seine between Paris and Caudebec-en-Caux (about 45 km from the English Chanel). Side trips are made to the beaches of Normandy, and Honfleur at the mouth of the Seine. Embark and disembark in Paris. Students of history will be impressed by the D-Day memorials and the site of Joan of Arc’s martyrdom. Nature lovers will marvel at the incredible scenery of Northern France’s countryside and Monet’s Giverny. Art lovers will thrill at visiting the villages and homes of the Impressionists. Those with a romantic streak, art lovers, shoppers and history buffs will relish exploring Paris. This itinerary can be joined by nigh-speed rail to a River Royale's ‘Bordeaux, Vineyards and Chateau’ cruise, for a total of 14-nights. Or, from Paris, take fast rail to Lyon and sail the Rhône to the Mediterranean coast, over a total of 14 nights. For 21-night ‘Ultimate France’ tour, begin with Paris and the Seine, take rail to the Bordeau region, then fly to Lyon and finish on the Mediterranean coast. NOTE: There are special Parisian Holiday cruises of 7 nights in December from Paris. These don’t reach the English Chanel, but do visit Versailles.

River Baroness was completely refurbished in 2011. It has an impressive two-story lobby, extra-large picture windows, and exquisitely upholstered chairs and sofas. Included in the cruise are first-class hotels (according to the cruise), all meals with complimentary dinner drinks, 24-hour specialty coffee and tea bar, bottled water, all shore excursions with audio headphones, local English-speaking guides, use of bicycles, Captain’s Welcome Gala and Farewell Dinner, and all transfers. There is free Internet access and Wi-Fi in public areas. River Baroness was named one of the "Top River Ships" in Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2013.

Accommodation
All cabins are outside, comfortable, and maintained by twice-a-day service. All have premium bedding, pillow options, controllable AC, direct-dial telephone, flat-screen TV with infotainment, storage, built-in safe, vanity, hair dryer, bathrobes, and compact marble bathroom fitted out with L’Occitane products. Lower deck cabins have panoramic picture windows. Baroness has no elevator.

One half of the staterooms have French balconies (including the Suites). The four Suites have extra amenities including a bottle of wine on arrival, larger sitting area, private DVD player, slippers, daily fruit and cookie plate, refrigerator, morning coffee and tea, Nespresso coffee machine and fine teas, continental breakfast, evening amuse-bouche, shoe shine, and free laundry service.

Food and Dining
The Van Gogh Restaurant is lined with floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides and provides open seating. Dining is acclaimed as “best-of-the-best” by observers of the river cruise industry. Breakfasts and lunches are full buffet with an extensive array of hot and cold items, and individually prepared items are available. Menu items change daily, follow the region and season, and include Continental and American preparations. Local and regional specialities are featured. Dinner is open-seating with four courses. Accompanying dinner are fine wines and a selection of beers and soft drinks. Dining options include vegetarian dishes and a Travelling Lite Menu.

Alternatively, dine al fresco at lunch and dinner on the Sun Deck during good weather. Menus follow the river, using fresh local ingredients and cuisines. Special dietary and vegetarian requests are catered for. Afternoon tea is served in the main lounge. All day Bistro Menu is for snacks. The specialty coffee and tea bar is open around the clock. Dining features include the Captain’s Welcome and Farewell Receptions, Welcome and Farewell Gala Dinners, and the ‘Epicurean Adventurer Program’. Uniworld received the TravelAge West Wave Award Editor’s Pick 2014 “Best Overall Cruise Line for River Cruising”.

Entertainment
The cruise focus is on exploration and walking tours with local guides. Tour variations continue to expand to meet the requests of guests: you have a choice of five ways to explore, according to your wishes. Travel lectures expand your knowledge of the regions visited, and the Epicurean Adventurer Program enhances your appreciation of local cuisine ashore. Visiting entertainers come on board along the route. A Family-Friendly program is offered during school holiday times.

Public areas include the Monet Lounge with a full-service bar, and library/game room. The sun deck (parts of which is enclosed) has deck chairs, and chess and shuffleboard. Health facilities include a fitness room with jet massage shower cabin, massage room and boutique. Bicycles and Nordic walking sticks are provided for self-organised sight-seeing.

Happy Customers

Twice I've used Clean Cruising, and have had excellent service both times, and with follow up information. I have and will further recommend you to others. Nothing was too much trouble.I'm hoping to do another cruise early next year, taking my grandson with me, so I'll be using Clean Cruising again. Thank you"
