Silver Shadow
Silver Shadow cruises the Alaskan coastline until mid-September 2010, then crosses to East and South-East Asia. In January/February 2011 she tours the waters of Australia and New Zealand, before returning to Asia. As the northern Summer approaches in May 2011 cruises return to the Fjords and glaciers of Alaska. Segments range from 7- to 30-nights. As a small vessel she gets to visit ports off-limits to other cruises. The quality of port reports offered by the shore excursion desk is superb, and it’s just a matter of choosing to sign up with a tour, or exploring independently. Standard suites come with sitting areas, a table large enough for in-cabin dining, writing desks, videocassette players and walk-in closets. Eighty-percent have balconies. The marble bathrooms have a separate tub and shower. Beyond standard cabins are a variety of larger suites, from "medallion" to "silver" to "royal" to "grand". More than 80% of the suites feature private teak balconies. The ship also has two extra-large cabins for physically and/or visually challenged passengers. Room service offers a 24-hour menu and passengers can order from The Restaurant's menu during meal times. Service is prompt and efficient, accompanied with crystal, china and Frette tablecloth in your suite.

Sailing since 2000 at 28,200 GT, the Italian-line Silver Shadow carries 388 passengers. This vessel is one of the few with a five-star Berlitz rating. Its passenger space is huge by cruise standards. The ship is operated by Italian officers, European staff, and an international crew. The Silversea hallmark is its superb hospitality, and all-inclusive drinks, gratuities, shuttle service, laundry facilities to mention a few. The Restaurant presents a six-course formal dinner; the Terrace Cafe offers a buffet – prepared by top line chefs. The Poolside Grille is an ultra-casual option. Public rooms include comfortable lounges and bars, library, card room, Internet Centre, and a fully serviceable Medical Centre. Entertainment includes musicians rendering the tunes and melodies of the passengers’ eras, cooking demonstrations, wine tasting, and exceptionally informative details about ports of call. Be pampered with the spa treatments, keep fit under the guidance of the fitness instructor Silver Shadow is suited to well-travelled couples who appreciate gourmet food, fine European-style service bordering on the luxurious, and excellent on-shore tour arrangements.
