Arcadia
From Southampton Arcadia visits the Mediterranean, Continental and Baltic coasts, and twice crosses the Atlantic. In January 2011 she embarks on her next World Cruise westwards via the Panama Canal to Australia, Asia, and Suez Canal to Southampton. Seventy percent of staterooms have verandahs, and there are 26 price grades of accommodation. Tea and coffee making kits are also provided in every cabin. Service and additional charges for, say, room-service dining, depend on the five types of accommodation. The mini-suites are cozy and very comfortable.

The large resort ship Arcadia entered service in 2005, was refitted late 2008, and at 82,972 GT carries 1996 passengers. This child-free vessel is best suited to singles and couples, with entertainment geared to British tastes, in an informal setting and with plenty of open-plan public rooms. Arcadia scores highly on cleanliness and smooth running by her sociable British officers and multinational crew members. Outdoor facilities include a wrap-around promenade deck with plenty of sunloungers, and glass-covered pool on the Lido Deck. The interior is ‘traditionally modern’, assisted by 3000 contemporary British works of art. Arcadia also has an enormous casino, and offers karaoke sessions, educational lectures (pay-extra), the three-tiered Palladium Theatre, and various cabaret, lounge and pub alternatives. Note that the Captain can marry couples while at sea. The majority of passengers are British – everybody from cafe owners to physicians – and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. One can dress for the fashion stakes, or just be reasonably smart.
