Amsterdam
From May 2010 Amsterdam cruises out of Seattle to ten ports along the fjord-and-glacier coastline of Alaska (14-nights). In late September she crosses the Pacific to the East Asian coastline, down to Sydney (Australia) via Singapore. In December Amsterdam sails out of San Diego to the Mexican coast, and then to Fort Lauderdale. From here she begins a round-trip 110-night world voyage in January 201. Sectors can be booked from Sydney, Auckland, Hong Kong, Dubai and Athens. Cabins are warm and comfortable, with 135 inside and 385 outside cabins. All have temperature control, flat screen TV, and quality bedding, bathrobes and bathroom amenities.

MS Amsterdam, at 61,000 GT, sailed her maiden voyage in 2000, and carries 1,380 passengers. The vessel reflects Holland America’s long sea tradition along with all modern comforts. The ship rarely feels crowded, with quiet retreats, and guests are surrounded by a multi-million-dollar art and antiques collection. A focal point in the three-tier atrium is the ornate Astrolabe that tracks constellations, the planets, world time and ship time. Dining ranges from formal to open-seating at multiple venues. Relax in the library or one of the cafés, watch a DVD or check the Internet. Be entertained by a show in the Queen’s Lounge, classical music over drinks in the Explorer’s Bar, or singing in Rembrandt’s Lounge. Daytime activities include culinary demos and classes, and the Microsoft Digital Workshop. Shore excursion options are extensive. Children and teens are catered for in three age groups.
