Queen Mary 2
RMS Queen Mary 2 makes 6- to 7--night crossings of the Atlantic between Southampton and New York, with occasional short and much longer sojourns to Scandinavian ports, the Arctic Circle, and the Eastern seaboard of North America. From November 2010 sailings ex New York reach the Eastern Caribbean. In January 2011 QM2 begins a 103-night world cruise ex New York, skirting the Atlantic and Indian Oceans to a far point in New Zealand, and returning via Asia, Middle East, the Suez Canal and Mediterranean seas. Sectors can be booked. Almost three quarters of QM2’s rooms have a private balcony. Passengers’ dining arrangements onboard are dictated by which ‘class’ of accommodation they choose: Most passengers (around 85%) are in Britannia class (and therefore dine in the main restaurant). There are ten dining venues in all. Complimentary dine-in room service is available 24 hours a day.

This vessel offers the most modern of large liner experiences, with the finest grandeur and décor of any ship built to date. She is a transatlantic ocean liner and flagship of the Cunard Line. Inaugurated in 2004, and at 148,528 GT (the Titanic was 46,328 GT), she carries 3,056 guests. On a QM2 cruise ordinary travellers can feel like royalty for a week or two. More than 5000 specially-commissioned works of art are visible in the QM2’s public rooms, corridors, staterooms and lobbies. Differing from cruise ships, many of the major public rooms are on the lowest decks: the Illuminations theatre, cinema and planetarium, Royal Court Theatre, Grand Lobby, Empire Casino, Golden Lion Pub, Britannia Restaurant, shopping arcade, bars and clubs are on decks 2 and 3. On Deck 7 are the Queen's Grill and Princess Grill restaurants for higher-fare passengers. Amenities include state-of-the-art gym, the largest ballroom at sea in the Queens Room, lavish musicals in the Royal Court Theatre. One the other hand, some of the most memorable times will be those times on deck, spent reading, talking with other guests, or simply watching the sea pass by.
