Crystal Serenity
Until November 2010 Crystal Serenity cruises the Mediterranean, with side trips to the Black Sea and the UK. These are 7- to 12-night journeys to famous cities of antiquity, and some of the smaller ports. In December she crosses the Atlantic and runs10-night cruises of the Caribbean out of Miami. In mid-January 2011 Serenity begins a 110-night world tour from Los Angeles to Dover (UK) via New Zealand, Australia, S-E Asia, India, the Middle East, the southern coast of Africa, and Spain. Sectors of 12 to 21 nights are available. This vessel receives a Berlitz rating of five stars because of its fine facilities, service and crew. Crystal ships are numbered 1 and 2 in the world’s “Top Mid-size Ships”. The ship’s atmosphere creates a sense of community between passengers and crew. All cabins have an outside view, and are boutique-hotel style with queen beds converting to two singles. Each cabin has a flat-screen television, DVD player (DVDs are free from the library) and fridge with complimentary soft drinks and bottled water. Suites come with butlers and course-by-course meals. Penthouse accommodations come with marble bathrooms and whirlpool baths with separate showers.

Launched in 2003 at 68,000 GT, the ship carries 1080 passengers. Most are returning guests, middle-aged, well-travelled and retired, who appreciate big-ship activities and amenities with luxury food and service. This vessel has one of the highest space-per-guest ratios at sea. Dining is open seated for breakfast and lunch, with traditional two seatings at night. Two alternative restaurants, a bistro, grill, sushi bar, or tables set around the covered pool provide other dining choices. The Crystal Cove in the atrium is for people-watching against a piano accompaniment. One may relax in the library, or join one of the Creative Learning Institute programs that range from foreign languages to computer skills. Popular exercise opportunities are paddle tennis, shuffleboard, putting green, golf driving nets, Ping-Pong, and of course a full gym. There are two playrooms for youngsters aged from 3 to 17.
