Life aboard Carnival Pride
Carnival Pride began service in 2002 and was refitted in 2010. At 85,920 GT she carries 2,124 passengers, yet gives the feel of not being particularly crowded. The ship features alternative restaurants, onboard wedding chapels, and creative touches such as museum-quality artwork. This “Fun Ship” has many features to keep one occupied during sea days. Carnival Pride has received top marks from past guests for the quality of its entertainment and facilities for families and children. Passengers (mostly American) are a broad cross-section of all ages.

Accommodation
The 20 cabin categories include interior staterooms, ocean-view rooms, ocean rooms with French doors (but no balcony), ocean rooms with private balcony, and four grades of suites. Eighty percent of the cabins are outside, and 80 percent of those staterooms have private balconies. Each cabin has a gift amenity basket in its bathroom. Standard cabins are a good size and equipped with all the basics. Most with twin beds can be converted to queen-size bed. Some cabins can accommodate a third and fourth person. Good design and soft lighting add to a feeling of spaciousness in interior staterooms. All staterooms include flat-screen TVs, safe, hair dryer, bathrobes to wear during your cruise, and Carnival Comfort Bed with plush mattresses, good quality duvets, linens and pillows.

There is a wide range of balcony staterooms, and the best staterooms are those with wrap-around views. Suites are larger in size, with walk-in closet, a good-sized bathroom and lounge area, and whirlpool tub. Choose from Junior Suite, Grand Suite, Vista Suite, and Ocean Suite. Suites come with priority check-in. Many cabins have upper and lower bunk beds. There are no single cabins, and 16 wheelchair-accessible cabins. There are self-service laundry rooms with washing machines, dryers, irons and ironing board.

Food and Dining
The ship has a single two decks high dining room – the Normandie Restaurant – with a choice of fixed-time dining at two seatings, or flexible “Your Time Dining”. Dining assignments can be booked before the cruise. There’s one formal dinner, so come prepared to dress up. Menus change daily and service is excellent. Complimentary espresso, cappuccino and lattes are served in the dining room after a meal. Children have their own menu, plus pizzas and icecream all day. For a treat reserve a place at the 12-seat Chef’s Table that includes a tour of the galley. David’s Steakhouse (formal attire, reservations only, and cover charge) is a superb fine-dining experience not to be missed. Breakfast and lunch are open seating. Seaday Brunch (on sea days) allows you to sleep in.

Mermaid’s Grille is an extensive casual lido eatery, with sections that include small buffet counters, salad counters, a dessert counter, a 24-hour pizzeria, fast food, ice cream/frozen yoghurt station, and deli. Hot coffee is available at drinks stations throughout at no cost, but the offerings at the specialty coffee bar near the pizzeria, as well as Piazza Café in the lower promenade area, are extra. A sushi cart is set up each afternoon offering salmon, shrimp and assorted rolls (free of charge), and sake (extra) in the bar. The ship offers 24-hour room service, ranging from basic continental-style breakfast fare to a variety of sandwiches and desserts.

Entertainment
There is something for everyone. The Taj Mahal Main Show Lounge, spanning three decks, presents large production shows and cabaret acts backed by a live show band. There’s an alternative show lounge, Butterflies Lounge, on the lowest deck. Night is the time for late buffet snacks, R-rated comedy, Raphael’s Lounge for jazz, the Ivory Piano Bar for sing along, and Gotham Lounge for live music in the evening.

Daytime activities include the customary art auctions, karaoke, "game show mania," ballroom dancing, comedians, bingo, library and Internet café. Adults have the large action-packed Winner’s Club Casino. Take an aerobics class, work out in the gym, refresh with a beauty treatment and massage. There’s a mini-golf course, jogging track, and deck games. Teens enjoy their own parties and movies at Club O2, junior teens at Circle “C”, and pre-teens at Camp Carnival. Entertainment extends to the humungous Waterslide and pools.

"Ultimately it came down to attitude and the service from you was genuinely impressive so I rewarded that with my business. Price is very important but that good old thing called Service is hard to find these days."
William H from Melbourne

"I would like to let you know how incredibly helpful, resourceful, efficient, reliable and cheerful Natalya has been. Nothing has been too much trouble and she follows through with every single thing she says she is going to do. It is unusual, and incredibly refreshing."
