Life aboard Carnival Glory
Carnival Glory offers 7-night cruises year-round out of Miami, Florida. The Eastern Caribbean cruise visits the Bahamas, US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and the Turks and Caicos Islands. The Western Caribbean cruise calls at the Cayman Islands, Honduras, Belize and Mexico (Cozumel). Each cruise has two sea days. Day on-shore trips allow for shopping, perhaps visiting old ruins from the pirate days, strolling along beaches, snorkelling, and maybe feeding giant rays.

Carnival Glory is one of five 110,000 GT, 2974-passenger Conquest Class cruise ships. Her maiden voyage was in 2003. Some features of the vessel include four pools, seven whirlpools, and a 65m water slide. Other amenities include multiple bars, nightclub, casino, full internet connectivity, and large outdoor LED screen overlooking the main pool area. Carnival Glory's biggest strength is its appeal to a wide variety of travellers, from families and groups to couples. The ship receives good customer ratings for its entertainment, spa and fitness facility, and provisions for various children age-group activities. The ship gives a feeling of spaciousness, with its “city at sea” atmosphere.

Accommodation
The cabin categories include interior staterooms, ocean view (portholes, picture window, and forward-looking floor-to-ceiling window), balcony (four grades, up to an aft wrap-around balcony), and suites (three grades). Eighty percent of the cabins are outside; 80 percent of those staterooms have private balconies. Each cabin has a gift amenity basket in its bathroom. All staterooms include flat-screen TVs, safe, mini-bar, beach towels, hair dryer, bathrobes to wear during your cruise, and Carnival Comfort Bed with plush mattresses, good quality duvets, linens and pillows. Standard cabins are a good size. Most with twin beds can be converted to king-size bed. Good design and soft lighting add to a feeling of spaciousness in interior staterooms.

The Junior, Grand, and Ocean Suites have a large lounge and sleeping area, large bathroom with twin wash basins, and whirlpool bathtub. The best suites and cabins are those on the aft-facing decks. Suites qualify for priority check-in at port. Some cabins can accommodate a third and fourth person, and most cabin categories are fitted with inter-connecting doors to suit families. There are no single cabins, and 25 wheelchair-accessible cabins. A room service menu is available 24-hours, for a small charge.

Food and Dining
There are two principal dining rooms - Golden and Platinum - with a choice of fixed-time dining at two seatings, or flexible "Your Time Dining". Dining assignments can be booked before the cruise. Menus change daily and service is excellent. Breakfast and lunch are open seating. Late morning Brunch is served along with a comedy presentation. Kids have their own menu. The lido buffet Red Sail Restaurant is the expansive two-level poolside eatery, offering casual alternatives for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also on the pool deck is a pizza station, Paul's Deli, Asian food, and a great seafood cafe. Come evening, most of Red Sail's grill stations close down to become Seaview Bistro.

The Emerald Room Supper Club (reservations only, cover charge) specialising in steaks and seafood is a superb fine-dining experience not to be missed. The Chef’s Table, reserved for 12, is a special dining experience that includes a galley tour. On the promenade deck Creams Café serves specialty coffees and sweets (there's a charge). At night, a complimentary Japanese sushi bar opens. There are numerous coffee, iced tea and lemonade stations as well as self-serve ice cream and frozen yoghurt machines. The ship offers 24-hour room service, ranging from basic continental-style breakfast fare to a variety of sandwiches and desserts.

Entertainment
There is something for everyone. The Amber Palace Show Lounge spanning three decks presents large production shows and cabaret acts backed by a live show band. It has a revolving stage, hydraulic orchestra pit, and excellent sound. Seaside Theatre’s giant screen over the main pool shows sports events, music videos and films. Night is the time for late buffet snacks, R-rated comedy and White Heat Dance Club dancing. There’s the Cinn-A-Bar piano bar, and Bar Blue for afternoon tea and before dinner drinks. These are just a few of the 22 bars and lounges splashed with kaleidoscopic colours.

Daytime activities include the customary art auctions, karaoke, "game show mania," ballroom dancing, comedians, and bingo. Adults have the large action-packed Camel Club Casino and their adults-only Serenity Retreat. Take an aerobics class, work out in the gym, refresh with a beauty treatment and massage. There’s a mini-golf course, jogging track, and deck games. Teens enjoy their own parties and movies at Club O2, junior teens at Circle “C”, and pre-teens at Camp Carnival. Entertainment extends to the humungous WaterWorks slides and pools. Keep linked to the outside world at the Internet Café.
