Life aboard Avalon Panorama
Avalon Panorama sails 7, 10 and 14-night cruises on the Rhine-Main-Danube river systems of Central Europe. Some of these itineraries are Special Interest Cruises - Beer Tasting, history, Art, Jazz and others. Add a day or more before or after your cruise to reach various capitals of Central Europe. Take the classic journey from Amsterdam to Budapest over 14 nights, through Holland, Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. No other destinations, in such close proximity, hold greater attractions for travellers than in Europe. Luxury cruising past such a diversity of historical and cultural sites is impressive. Ask about adding pre- or post-cruise land tours.

This vessel is modern and spacious, with the comforts of a fine hotel, but without the need to pack and unpack during your holiday or pay for additional costs (such as for tips, drinks, and most tours). This unique "Suite Ship" is up to 30% larger in area than industry standard. Two full decks feature wall-to-wall panoramic windows that transform your suite into a huge balcony. Plush on-board amenities include an Internet corner and complimentary Wi-Fi, a well-stocked library, self-serve beverage station, a comprehensive fitness centre, and a spacious Sky Deck with premium lounge chairs, shade system, whirlpool, and delightful Open-Air Bistro. Avalon includes the most shore excursions. Over half of your fellow passengers will be Australians.

Accommodation
The ship has 67 Suites and 16 Staterooms, all spacious and well-appointed. All cabins have quality hotel-style bedding and linen with twin or queen-size beds and bed lamps, bathrobes and slippers, nightly turn down service, ample storage, flat-screen satellite TV with movie channels, complimentary Wi-Fi access, direct-dial telephone, writing desk, minibar, personal safe, controllable AC, hair dryer, shower and L’Occitane bath amenities. Twelve Indigo Deck cabins on the lowest accommodation deck have twin picture windows for viewing near the water line.

Each of the 67 Suites on the upper two decks has expanded river views with panoramic floor-to-ceiling French balconies (sliding glass doors with protective railings). They have a sitting area with sofa, chair and coffee table, and more spacious bathroom facilities. Two Royal Suites with king-size beds and double sinks take river cruising to a new level. There are no single or wheelchair accessible cabins. An elevator services the balcony decks.

Food and Dining
Meals are served in a spacious open-seating dining room. Here you will be welcomed with sparkling wine and canapés, and sent off with a five-course farewell dinner. Breakfast is full buffet with made-to-order egg dishes, with complimentary sparkling wine and fruit juices. Lunch is also buffet-style at the open air Bistro, or in the main dining room. Dinners are four-course regional and Western affairs (and vegetarian options) with complimentary regional wine, beers and soft drinks. Afternoon tea, coffee and sweet treats are served, and converse over social-hour drinks in the Panorama Lounge.

Night fare is served after 10.30 pm. The self-service beverage station supplies complimentary tea, hot chocolate and premium coffees. (In addition to complimentary drinks, an all-inclusive drinks package is available for purchase.) Below decks are two lounges: the forward-viewing Panorama Lounge with bar (and Afternoon Tea); and an outside Observation Lounge. There is a rear-viewing Club Lounge. Continental breakfast and beverage room service is available to all staterooms.

Entertainment
Guests have the service of a Cruise Director, and entertainment includes on-board port talks, complimentary tastings, and performances by local entertainers to introduce you to their cultures. The real entertainment focuses on shore excursions using headsets and led by certified local guides, and you have a personal audio headset so that you miss none of the commentary. Select the level of on-shore activity: Leisurely, Traditional, or Independent, along with a Nordic walking stick. Themed cruises feature wine and beer tasting, art, golf, jazz, provincial cuisines, and festive occasions.

On board while sailing relax on a Sky Deck deck-chair (some under shade), have drinks in the Panorama Lounge to a background of piano entertainment, or make use of the large whirlpool. Health and well-being facilities include a small modern fitness centre and a hair salon. An Internet corner and library are available. Some cruises include land stays and all cruises offer land extensions.
