We use & recommend Viator.com otherwise search online & call us if you need help. Or just rent a taxi/pushbikes/tour/charter from the wharf when you berth, often the best value but be among the first ashore!
Keep in mind that if you go it alone and something happens like the taxi/bus breaks down and you end up being late back to the ship it will not wait for you unless it is advised. On the other hand if it is a ship-booked tour there are no problems as they are in contact with the tour companies.
Micronesia is full of maritime history, with many epic battles fought in the region in the last century. The islands share an interesting combination of Japanese, American and Island cultures. Scuba diving and water activities are very popular for visitors. Micronesia lies in the Western Pacific north of the Equator, between New Guinea and Japan. Its thousands of small islands are havens for diving amidst coral reefs shared with sunken ships, planes and submarines that are legacies of WWII. Chuuk is home to one of the great underwater museums of the world, Guam offers duty-free status, and Saipan hosts hordes of Japanese tourists, with its golf courses and resorts.
Vessels generally call at a port in Micronesia as part of a world cruise. Occasionally small explorer ships visit Micronesia, though not as often as they visit Melanesia (from Papua New Guinea across the Solomon Islands to Fiji) in the South Pacific. The smaller the ship the more opportunities visitors have to immerse themselves in local island activities.
Silver Discoverer visits the Yap and Palau (and then islands off PNG) in late 2017 in their explorer program. Fanning Atoll south of Hawaii is visited by Maasdam in March 2018, and Crystal Serenity in January 2019. Guam (currently in the news) is visited by Coral Princess in October 2018.

Featured Micronesia Cruise Ports
Palau is an island nation of Micronesia in the Western Pacific Ocean, 900 km east of the Philippines and 900 km north of Indonesian Papua. This small republic of several islands has as main commercial centre Koror, the nation's former capital and largest town, on Koror Island, where two thirds of the population dwell. The Republic of Palau is one of the world's youngest and smallest nations, but it offers you some of the world's most beautiful tropical paradise. The new capital is Melekeok, located on the island of Babeldaob, and is a pleasant drive from Koror across a fascinating and modern bridge.
The island of Yap, which actually consists of four continental islands that are very close together and joined within a common coral reef, is the most intriguing island in Micronesia. Scattered throughout the island are huge, ancient, stone money discs that are very heavy and are never moved around. They are still used for ceremonial exchanges, such as transfers of land titles. All islanders know who owns each disc, and there is also a stone money bank. It is interesting that on Yap traditional clothing is still worn. Indeed even in the capital of Colonia it is not uncommon for women to work in stores bare-breasted.
